Member falkor Posted February 27, 2010 Member Share Posted February 27, 2010 Massacre Survivor is originally 23.976 frames per second (fps) having originated on 35mm film. To be authored onto PAL DVD (25fps), we have two options: 1) Speed-up (final running time is reduced by approx. 3 minutes) 2) Trickery (original running time stays the same) Which clip do you think has the most smooth and fluid motion? Speed-up... Trickery... Which method should be used for the final DVD?
Member falkor Posted February 27, 2010 Author Member Share Posted February 27, 2010 I just spotted a glitch in "trickery", so I think it's going to have to be done the industry standard way. Sorry JAMAL, could you please reduce the running times on your superbly designed covers?
Member falkor Posted February 27, 2010 Author Member Share Posted February 27, 2010 That glitch was down to my Windows Media Player. VLC plays it fine, making it difficult for me to spot which one is better. Over to you guys...
Member JAMAL Posted March 1, 2010 Member Share Posted March 1, 2010 no problem falkor what is new the running time ? Cheers
Member falkor Posted March 5, 2010 Author Member Share Posted March 5, 2010 Latest news: PAL speed up is not needed anymore, as a brand new method has been utlised to bring out maximum smoothness for this type of source @ 25 fps. Every frame in the entire movie has been treated to look perfect as a progressive video, but the entire process has apparently taken 82 hours on dual-core. The old video clips I put up are now totally unrepresentative of the final DVD we will be receiving if the deal goes through.
