Member Kung Foolery Posted February 21, 2010 Member Share Posted February 21, 2010 More often than not, I find myself watching Kid From Kwangtung. I guess it's not my favorite Shaw Bros film exactly, but this has been the default selection as of late. There are awful parts in this movie, and the humor is downright embarrassing. But the fights. Is it me or are the fights in this one just bananas?
Member Shaolivevil Posted February 21, 2010 Member Share Posted February 21, 2010 I watch THE DUEL and FIVE ELEMENT NINJAS on a pretty regular basis. I also tend to watch VENGEANCE or THE DELINQUENT when I'm in a melancholic mood...

Member Iron Boat Posted February 21, 2010 Member Share Posted February 21, 2010 Since the new releases I've watched Soul of the Sword most often. 5 Shaolin Masters, Boxer From Shantung, NOAS, Magic Blade, Death Duel, Disciples of Shaolin, stay in heavy rotation. Member Skepparkrans Posted February 22, 2010 Member Share Posted February 22, 2010 I have found myself re-watching Shaw movies much more frequently then any other movie genre.. even if i have quite few of them.. Heroes of the East - the one i have probebly seen the most. Clan of the White Lotus - crazy, funny and wild. Five Element Ninjas - my Chang Cheh favorite. Member BlackLamaFaction Posted February 22, 2010 Member Share Posted February 22, 2010 Deadly Breaking Sword Sword Stained with Royal Blood 3 Evil Masters Life Gamble Supreme Swordsman A lot of Shaw films have great plot twists. I love those films but have a hard time watching them more than once, especially since so much of the plot is reliant upon the surprising climax, that is no longer a surprise on the second or third viewing. So I mainly go for the more action based films for multiple views.
Member KyFi Posted February 22, 2010 Member Share Posted February 22, 2010 I tend to put in movies right before I go to bed, so I lean towards some of the shorter ones more often----I can't usually make it through a 2 hour one without falling asleep on a weeknight. Ones that get the most replay: Five Venoms Heroes Two Killers Five Death Duel Deadly Duo Avenging Eagle Magnificent Swordsman Shaolin Abbott Shaolin Avengers Soul of the Sword

Member kungfusamurai Posted February 23, 2010 Member Share Posted February 23, 2010 I used to watch the venoms films over and over again, but I kind of got tired of some of them, like Crippled Avengers. Pops films still hold my interest, although I tend to fast forward to the best parts (fighting). They hold up better for me. KFS
Member vengeanceofhumanlanterns Posted February 24, 2010 Member Share Posted February 24, 2010 Just watched Shaolin Intruders again last night. I forgot to mention this one on my list. I was extremely disappointed when this film was legitimately released in the US they did not provide the english dub remastered along with it. I mean extremely disappointed. Because of this I actually searched out and purchased a copy of Red Sun's boot. Shameful I know, but their boot is much better quality than the original boot I picked up years before on DVD. Member vengeanceofhumanlanterns Posted February 25, 2010 Member Share Posted February 25, 2010 Just watched Black Tavern again last night. What incredibly tight choreographing and the film editor with the continuity from scene to scene. Incredibly well done on their part. This film is awesome. The story and plot only needed a few motives tied together to make it whole. The vagabond should've been the emmissary of Kang Hua, who by the way kicks ass in this film. Lots of colorful characters in this with a great score as well. Great film. Thank you Celestial!!!
