Member Chris Posted December 26, 2010 Member Share Posted December 26, 2010 Did anyone like 'Dynamite Warrior'? I wish more of these films on people's lists were released theatrically in the U.S. A short time after 'Crouching Tiger' was such a success here, 'Iron Monkey' played in theaters and I hadn't realized it was from 7 years before 'CTHD' (I liked 'IM' better). I did get to see some great films at 'alternative' venues - 'Red Cliff', 'Dynamite Warrior', 'The Warlords', 'Tears of the Black Tiger', 'Vengeance' (Johnnie To). Mainstream theaters offered 'Forbidden Kingdom', 'Ninja Assassin', 'Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li', which can be fun for the cheese factor. Some play for 1 week and are gone - I missed 'The Good, The Bad & The Weird' and now 'The Warrior's Way' - aargh! I'm looking forward to checking out the films I haven't heard of, on DVD of course. Member ShaOW!linDude Posted December 26, 2010 Member Share Posted December 26, 2010 What the.......! AlbertV, far be it from me to ever take issue with you over your opinion because if it doesn't usually match my own you generally provide info that makes me think and respect your perspective. Having said that...... CHOCOLATE and ONG BAK. Really? A tie? I mean.......really?????

Having said that...... CHOCOLATE and ONG BAK. Really? A tie? I mean.......really????? Yeah...I gave it a tie....reason being CHOCOLATE had a far better story while ONG-BAK for me had better stunt work...so with Rittikrai involved with both, I gave it a tie LOL
Member ShaOW!linDude Posted December 26, 2010 Member Share Posted December 26, 2010 I guess I can dig that, AV. Hey, it would be kind of cool to see Jaa play an idiot savant martial artist but now it's already been done. Oh, I know. He could play a guy who makes great MA movies and goes on sabbatical for a while at a monastery but gets attacked by all his rabidly anxious fans and flees to start making MA movies again. Member jmungus Posted November 2, 2011 Member Share Posted November 2, 2011 Did anyone like 'Dynamite Warrior'? NOPE!! just the other day i wanted to give it a 2nd chance. i didnt make it past halftime. sucky screenplay, lousy MA choreo, generic performances both drama and action parts, rather boring anything else. its an "exotic supernatural martial arts western"- c`mon, how can u screw that up so badly ??? classic BLEH movie. 10 faves from the past decade off the top of my head: shadowless sword ip man the rebel fighter in the wind kf hustle crouching tiger fearless dc red cliff hero dc chocolate yamada gets some well deserved honourable mentioning. fresh flick. my guilty pleasure of the decade would probably be dragon tiger gate. ong bak flicks (1+2) i really dig, but aside from tony`s performances, too much is too mediocre. SPL is slightly overrated all in all imo. flashpoint`s last act is awesome. the first two acts tho are totally corny. sadly, that makes it impossible for me to appreciate it like many of u guys do. Member Drunken Monk Posted November 2, 2011 Member Share Posted November 2, 2011 If we're doing 2000 to 2009 then "Bangkok Knockout" needs to removed from some lists. The only reason I point this out is because I loved it and can't include it on mine! In no particular order... Fearless Chocolate Ong Bak 2 Hero Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Contour (just for the choreography. Everything else is horrible) Ip Man The Protector Kiss of the Dragon Fatal Contact (hey, at least I didn't pick "Legendary Assassin!") I would have included "Ong Bak" but, to be honest, it doesn't hold up when watched repeatedly. It's actually a very shoddy film and after seeing what Tony Jaa has done since, it's lost its novelty, somewhat. I actually prefer "Chocolate." Member blue_skies Posted November 3, 2011 Member Share Posted November 3, 2011 I think my list still stands the same…in no particular order… Broken Path Kiss of the Dragon Hero Ong Bak Warrior King The Rebel District 13 Fighter in the Wind Chocolate Bichunmoo Although I would add a couple of also-rans to the shortlist that never quite made the final list... Undisputed 3 Bangkok Adrenaline Merantau Born to fight Versus Contour Shadowless Sword Kill Bill Volume 1 Ip Man Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon House of Flying Daggers Ong Bak 2 Fearless Danny the Dog SPL Flashpoint In no order: So Close That definitely has to be one of the most surprising choices I've read on this thread. I don't do 10, There are far more than 10 for sure.... Merantau I thought that was from 2010 but apparently you're right and I'm wrong. My top ten would be in no particular order 5: Blood and Bone 8: Ninja really? I enjoyed those films but neither were particularly that special in my opinion. Although I hope Michael Jai White rarely gets a chance to shine in the very near future, the man is a beast! If we're doing 2000 to 2009 then "Bangkok Knockout" needs to removed from some lists." I was going to point out the same thing!

Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted November 4, 2011 Member Share Posted November 4, 2011 Yes, you go with single digits 0-9 and then 10-19 etc...... just like you would 1990-1999.... you wouldn't include the year 2000 in the 90's.
