Member KyFi Posted December 29, 2009 Member Share Posted December 29, 2009 I sat down and figured that the only modern-day Shaw action movies I have are: Chinatown Kid Duel of Fists The Angry Guest The Singing Killer Shaolin Handlock Angel with Iron Fists Anyone have any other recommendations? I'm generally looking for pre-1980 stuff, where the setting is the present-day (not Republic-era stuff). Thanks in advance!
Member Cesare Posted December 29, 2009 Member Share Posted December 29, 2009 Generation Gap or Young People come to mind... Not exactly pure action, though...
Member ching li Posted December 29, 2009 Member Share Posted December 29, 2009 My Son (1969) and Asia-pol (1967) both with Jimmy Wang Yu, excellent movies, you can't go wrong with these two.
Member MarsHarmony Posted December 30, 2009 Member Share Posted December 30, 2009 I second Cesare's choices, although "Generation Gap" is very much a downer plot, and "Young People" is very upbeat. Also "Friends" is a modern story from 1974, and despite some drama, ends up being a feel good movie with some action, 70's fashions, and a great performance by Fu Sheng. Member Blood Sword Posted December 30, 2009 Member Share Posted December 30, 2009 I liked "dead end" quite a lot...There is not that much action but Chiang and Ti Lung are cool as always:angel:
Member Knockabout Posted December 30, 2009 Member Share Posted December 30, 2009 The Mini Skirt Gang also qualifies, although like the others mentioned here NOT an action packed movie by any means! Mostly slap-stick (sexual) comedy with action only towards the end.
Member AbeRudder Posted January 2, 2010 Member Share Posted January 2, 2010 Hong Kong Godfather directed by Wang Lung Wei, its got one of the most savage ending fights ive ever seen. Edit: Didn't see you were more interested in pre 1980 stuff, well you should see it anyway lol.
