Member daisho2004 Posted December 19, 2009 Member Share Posted December 19, 2009 Ghost of Mae Nak: Has anyone seen this Thai Horror film if so how is it? Synopsis: An age-old legend gets a new twist in the 2005 Thai horror Ghost of Mae Nak written and directed by British director Mark Duffield. Newlywed couple Mak (Siwat Chotchaicharin) and Nak (Pataratida Pacharawirapong) just moved into an old house in Bangkok. Mak has been disturbed by repeated nightmares about Mae Nak (Porntip Papanai), a vengeful female ghost from a famous Thai folk tale, and it soon becomes clear that there's more to the dreams. The ghost has latched on to the couple because they acquired an antique brooch that can release her spirit. When burglars come to the couple's home, Mae Nak protects them but in return she holds hostage Mak's soul. In order to save Mak, Nak must fulfill a task for Mae Nak. Member whitesnake Posted December 30, 2009 Member Share Posted December 30, 2009 Don't depend just on one opinion of the movie. Check the internet for film reviews. It's a mixed bag. Some reviewers enjoyed it, some didn't. I saw it on tv a couple of years ago, and did not consider it a waste of time, but didn't like it enough to buy the DVD. But the movie was intriguing enough that I checked more on the legend of the real Mae Nak, including viewing photos of a real shrine to her in Bangkok.
