Like that guy being made fun of in Killer Constable because his wife made some boots for him:tongue:
Member tdb Posted November 19, 2009 Member Share Posted November 19, 2009 These mostly fit your criteria: Dragon Inn (1967) Broken Oath When Taekwondo Strikes One-armed Swordsman trilogy A Girl Fighter The Black Tavern
Member Blood Sword Posted November 20, 2009 Member Share Posted November 20, 2009 Showdown in Cotton MIll also have pretty much funeral feeling through film....Sorry if remember wrong but I think only person who smiles in movie is villain Tan Tao Liang and he does not do it more than 2 times. Member BlackLamaFaction Posted November 20, 2009 Member Share Posted November 20, 2009 Ninja Wolves (not one second of comedy and the hero is the most ruthless killer' you've ever seen) Supreme Swordsman (Story of a vicious bastard who kills anyone including his own master to become the ultimate swordsman.) Duel to the Death (Again the Japanese are not known for their sense of humor.) The Assassin (Jimmy Wang Yu is totally serious as he massacres hundreds) Two Great Cavaliers (Very little comedy and a lot of star power) The Heroes (One of the better tragedies I've seen)
Moderator Karlos Posted November 20, 2009 Moderator Share Posted November 20, 2009 Eight Diagram Pole Fighter, I'd say. The film is shot thru with a sense of bewilderment, heartbreak, rage and sadness - all due to Fu Sheng's tragic, untimely death. The only KF film to always make me shiver, no matter how many times I view it.
Member Drunken Monk Posted November 20, 2009 Member Share Posted November 20, 2009 I know this thread focuses on plot but sometimes it's awkward when a film has a serious plot but then has some accidentally laughable moments. I love "Duel to the Death" but the giant ninja, naked woman ninja and the way she runs backwards, still makes me chortle.
Member The Dragon Posted November 20, 2009 Member Share Posted November 20, 2009 I don't know what you mean... Be more specific? The Blazing Temple is quite serious...

Member tdb Posted December 13, 2009 Member Share Posted December 13, 2009 I dunno, Intimate Confessions of a Chinese Courtesan is serious, but its (and at the time it was made, methinks) fairly camp (in a good way).
Member mpm74 Posted December 13, 2009 Member Share Posted December 13, 2009 Hmmm I remember 36th CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN having all sorts of comedy.
Member Tosh Posted December 13, 2009 Member Share Posted December 13, 2009 Once again I have to pimp The Sword(1980) If you really want realistic serious movies you'll need to go to the Japanese Jidaigeki films.

Member Monk Sante Posted December 13, 2009 Member Share Posted December 13, 2009 The Duel starring David Chiang and Ti Lung is another serious kick ass Chang Cheh flick. (((I would like to see this one on Blu Ray with english dub))
Member SunChien Posted December 13, 2009 Member Share Posted December 13, 2009 I'd say a lot of the films with David Chiang and Ti Lung were quite serious like Vengeance and Angry Guest.
Guest WuxiaFan
Hmmm I remember 36th CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN having all sorts of comedy. DISCIPLES OF THE 36TH CHAMBER and RETURN TO THE 36TH CHAMBER did, but not the original 36th CHAMBER. San Te (Liu) was serious throughout the entire movie, similar to 8 DIAGRAM POLE FIGHTER.
