Morgoth Bauglir

Killer Constable

Rebellious Reign

King of Kings

Blood Brothers (Shaw Brothers)

What Price Honesty

Bells of Death

Big Showdown aka Kung Fu Massacre

I only remember a slight bit of comedy in these. Like that guy being made fun of in Killer Constable because his wife made some boots for him:tongue:

Showdown in Cotton MIll also have pretty much funeral feeling through film....Sorry if remember wrong but I think only person who smiles in movie is villain Tan Tao Liang and he does not do it more than 2 times.

Awesome movie:angel:

Ninja Wolves (not one second of comedy and the hero is the most ruthless killer' you've ever seen)

Supreme Swordsman (Story of a vicious bastard who kills anyone including his own master to become the ultimate swordsman.)

Duel to the Death (Again the Japanese are not known for their sense of humor.)

The Assassin (Jimmy Wang Yu is totally serious as he massacres hundreds)

Two Great Cavaliers (Very little comedy and a lot of star power)

The Heroes (One of the better tragedies I've seen)

Eight Diagram Pole Fighter, I'd say.

The film is shot thru with a sense of bewilderment, heartbreak, rage and sadness - all due to Fu Sheng's tragic, untimely death.

The only KF film to always make me shiver, no matter how many times I view it.

I know this thread focuses on plot but sometimes it's awkward when a film has a serious plot but then has some accidentally laughable moments. I love "Duel to the Death" but the giant ninja, naked woman ninja and the way she runs backwards, still makes me chortle.

I dunno, Intimate Confessions of a Chinese Courtesan is serious, but its (and at the time it was made, methinks) fairly camp (in a good way).

The Duel starring David Chiang and Ti Lung is another serious kick ass Chang Cheh flick.

(((I would like to see this one on Blu Ray with english dub))

Hmmm I remember 36th CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN having all sorts of comedy.

DISCIPLES OF THE 36TH CHAMBER and RETURN TO THE 36TH CHAMBER did, but not the original 36th CHAMBER. San Te (Liu) was serious throughout the entire movie, similar to 8 DIAGRAM POLE FIGHTER.
