Guest Ninja Sinai
My list of 10 movies that I think deserve a Celestial style glass remaster in widescreen would have to be.. #1. Rebellious Reign – Shapes galore with a ballistic end fight! #2. Snake In The Monkeys Shadow – It will be a fine fine day when a remastered version of this finally sees the light of day. #3. Bloody Treasury Fight – Tan Tao Liang classic!! There has to be a wide version of this somewhere! #4. Strife For Mastery – Man what I would give for a wide remaster of this! From what ive heard through many collectors is that a widescreen version of this classic doesn’t exist! I just hope that’s not the case but after trying to hunt one down for a very long time.. im starting to think it may be true. #5. Heroes of Shaolin (AKA Hero of the Wild) – Wicked wicked flik!! Only downside I thought was the music. Def needs a remaster! #6. Choi Lee Fat Kung Fu – Man how I would love to see a glorious remaster of this classic! Big respect to Toby for putting out a nice widescreen print. Now all we need is remastered version where we can see the actual true colours. #7. The Victim – One of the best end fights ever!! #8. Mystery Of Chess Boxing – Ive already seen a glass widescreen original language version of this on the big screen. So I know the print exists. Now all we need is Toby to put it out on dvd. #9. The Challenger – Glad to know this one is finally on the horizon! #10. The Loot – Same as above!
Guest Northern B
..Shaolin Plot! Superb movie btw some great titles already mentioned
Guest Ninja Sinai
Shaolin Plot has loooooong been promised by HKL. As far back as 98/99 I think. However still no sign of it.. im hoping this year is the year I finally get to watch this.. as ive been holding off buying it waiting for the HKL release. I saw a clip of this yeeears ago in the now legendary Flashlegs Shop in Clapham when Flashlegs Pete played me the final clip where Casanova Wong turns up and tears up the screen!! Member Linn1 Posted March 19, 2007 Member Share Posted March 19, 2007 Here's what I know. If I said yes, that means they are being worked on right now or they're done. Maybe mean I know the print is being thought of. No, there's little chance in the next year or so. Please note, this STILL doesn't mean they'll be out this year. Gold Hunters-Yes Secret Of The Shaolin Poles-Yes Ferocious Monk Of Shaolin-Yes City of Darkness-yes Shaolin Plot-Yes Five Element Ninja (Chinese Super Ninjas)-yes 8 Masters-Yes The Rebellious Reign-Owned by FS, comes out this year or next Gerd Ma Lui-coming, but it will be full screen Gerd Ma Lui 3-ditto Shaolin Vs. Lama-Toby is supposedly doing this. He's got the print at least. Shaolin & Wutang-Maybe The Green Dragon Inn-Maybe 2 On The Road-Maybe Heroes of Shaolin (AKA Hero of the Wild)-Maybe Fatal Flying Guillotines (uncut)-Maybe Blazing Temple, The-Maybe 5 Fighters from Shaolin-Maybe The Victim-Maybe Ninja in the Dragon's Den-Maybe Chinatown Kid (uncut)- Looks good Seven Steps Of Kung Fu-Maybe Woman Avenger-Don't know 18 Bronzemen-Don't know 18 Bronzemen, Return Of-Don't know Hell's Windstaff-Don't know Eagles Claw vs Butterfly Palm-Don't know Blooded Treasury Fight-Don't know Buddha Assassinator-Don't know My Life's on the Line-Don't know Fearless Dragons-Don't know The Hot The Cool And The Vicious-Don't know Killers Game / the green jade statuette-Don't know Challenge Of Death-Don't know Eagles Claw-Don't know Unique Lama-Don't know Point The Finger Of Death-Don't know Strife For Mastery-Don't know Mystery of Chessboxing-Don't know Marshes of Yang-No Born Invincible-No Snake In The Monkeys Shadow-No. The problem is only one person has an uncut version of this and he's not giving it up. Choi Lee Fat Kung Fu-No

Member Linn1 Posted March 19, 2007 Member Share Posted March 19, 2007 correct. The copy he has is the only one I know of that's uncut. It has extra footage, including longer fights, and at least one more full fight scene. He showed it at one of his film fest a year or so ago. A friend who saw it was blown away by the fact that it was uncut.
Guest Chinatown Kid
So the chances of Chinatown Kid being released remastered and uncut looks good huh Linn?, that info gives me a reason to cheer!!! Know anything about Crash releasing Dynamo remastered as well?
Guest Shaolin Dog Paw
if Tarantino was a true fan, why would he hoard the uncut version and not give it to the fans? It just seems confusing, he doesnt really need the money but would still make a decent profit from releasing the uncut version. Maybe he likes having a gem in his collection that no one else has? Member Linn1 Posted March 19, 2007 Member Share Posted March 19, 2007 I just don't think he's even thought about it really.
Guest MikoHazuki
Thanks for the info Linn. I'm ecstatic to see SECRET OF THE SHAOLIN POLES in widescreen, finally! Any new release has to be better than the crappy blurry fullscreen version available.

Guest Yakuza954
I remember reading that the crowd went wild after they saw Tarantino's uncut Snake in the Monkey's Shadow. And while I thought the movie was enjoyable, I didn't think it was that good. I assumed his version just had the extra monkey vs snake scene, but if it had longer fights AND an extra fight, than it makes more sense if the crowd went crazy. It's probably a better movie altogether. My top 10 List (didn't include stuff slated to be released by Joy Sales): 1. Five Fighters from Shaolin (I see this listed as a "maybe". Here's hoping..) 2. Fists and Guts 3. Tiger over Wall 4. Fistful of Talons 5. Call me Dragon 6. Kung Fu Supermen 7. The Lama Avenger 8. Iron Dragon Strikes Back 9. Shaolin Temple Strikes Back 10. Dynamite Trio
