Member jalvarez82 Posted August 25, 2009 Member Share Posted August 25, 2009 These are the only ones I know of. Hwang Jang Lee Lo Lieh Chang Shan Phillip Ko Fei Carter Wong Jack Long Wilson Tong Chang Yi Wang Lung Wei Alan Tsui Did I miss anyone else? I'm interested in discovering any movies, unknown to me, with a white-haired villain and/or hero. And just out of curiousity...who do you guys think looked the best with the white hair?? In my opinion, Chang Shan wore the white hair the best in Seven Steps Of Kung Fu. Dude looked fierce!
Member Bronx Rican Posted August 25, 2009 Member Share Posted August 25, 2009 Remember, Ko Fei was also in full white-hair regalia for "Invincible Armour." He wasn't THE villain, but he had plenty of his own sinister motives. Don't forget Chang Yi! "Eagle's Claw", "Fatal Needles Fatal Fists", "The Eighteen Jade Arhats", "Ten Brothers of Shaolin"... I'm sure there's more. EDIT: Nice one; you covered Ko before I posted. Oh... Alan Tsui in "Seven Grandmasters". And does Wang Li's "Western Poison" count in "Brave Archer and His Mate"? Member 18JadeArafats Posted August 28, 2011 Member Share Posted August 28, 2011 Hell yeah. So many movies I want to watch now if I can just identify them. There's the villain in Secret Service of the Imperial Court who's got white hair. I thought there were more examples of those corrupt-East Chamber-eunuch w/ white hair, but now I can't think of any other examples. And Retsudo always seem visually out of place in the canon of Japanese villains, let's make him an honorary white fox!
Member The Silver Fox Posted August 29, 2011 Member Share Posted August 29, 2011 The titles I can identify are: (not necessarily in order) Invincible Armour,Eagle's Claw,Demon Strike,Ninja Wolves,Secret Rivals1&2,Death Duel of Kung Fu, Shaolin Mystagogue, Snuff Bottle Collection,Fatal Needles Vs Fatal Fists,18 Jade Arhats,The 36 Deadly Styles, Dance of the Drunk Mantis, Traitorous,Executioners from Shaolin,5 Element Kung Fu, Born Invincible,The Master,Avenging Eagle,Fist of the White Lotus,Phantom Kung Fu, I missed a bunch, can anybody id that Chen Kuan Tai clip where he has the steel fingers and snaps the sword ? Member jmungus Posted August 29, 2011 Member Share Posted August 29, 2011 bloody hell, theres a house full of television-fu masters and "EAGLE" HAN YING (the magnificent eagle han ying i might add!) is nowhere to be found in this thread. hes doing his mad yoda thing as a pai mei/silverfox type in at least 1 indie gem, if not more. cant be sure of the respective flix ( can be a bit of a blur at times), maybe south shaolin vs north shaolin and/or death duel of kf and/or shaolin vs tai chi. Member The Silver Fox Posted August 29, 2011 Member Share Posted August 29, 2011 At the 6:57mark on the video it is clearly Chen Kuan Tai. I think I see Venom Sun Chien in there too. Anybody else? Actually, it may be The Master, I haven't watched it for awhile.
Member The Silver Fox Posted August 30, 2011 Member Share Posted August 30, 2011 Yeah, you're right. I checked on my dvd, it is indeed Pai Piao from Shaolin Prince-sorry for disagreeing with you. The two do look alike, and from the very brief clip I was sure it was Chen.
Member jalvarez82 Posted November 22, 2011 Author Member Share Posted November 22, 2011 Wow. I forgot I made this thread. The white-haired villains are my favorite baddies in this genre.
Member Omni Dragon Posted November 22, 2011 Member Share Posted November 22, 2011 Tsai Hung & Kwan Hung in KUNG FU REBELS aka KUNG FU TROUBLE MAKER But they were bearly in it. Not White haired but "Silver & Gold" "Silver & Gold Tiger" in KUNG FU OF 8 DRUNKARDS ek-jXPNogkU The film also featured many other interesting characters including Chen Sing as a grey haired master. WiN7I0K8FOU Others characters: Cheng Fu-Hung & midget servant, Chanbara style guy & Wu Ma. KUNG FU OF 8 DRUNKARDS is almost like a comic book. Member ironfistedmonk Posted March 8, 2023 Member Share Posted March 8, 2023 Watched King Hu's Dragon Inn again recently, I think this film is from 1967? Pai Ying plays a villain who ticks all the boxes for what I would consider to be a white hair fox, and I can't think of another movie that I've seen older than this one with a white hair fox character, is this one of the earliest appearances of this kind of character? What are their origins? It seems that most evil eunuch characters like this one have white hair and almost supernatural kung fu abilities, I was just wondering where this trope came from and what was the first example?
