Member shaolinkng7 Posted August 11, 2009 Member Share Posted August 11, 2009 You are in charge of reviving the old World Northal series Black Belt Theater for one of the cable networks ad later syndication. It is time to pick the movies that will make up the first three packages. Here is the rule. You can only pick five movies that were on the original series, the rest must be movies that have never aired as part of any syndicated package. The mix must be 50% old school ( pre 1983 ), 25% new wave ( 1984 - 1999 ), and 25% recent releases. Also, all Golden Harvest movies starring Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee are off limits. Now what would you put in the first three packages?
Member AlbertV Posted August 13, 2009 Member Share Posted August 13, 2009 Wow....that is very interesting. If I still was in New York, we would have a new Drive-In Movie or a new Fist of Fury Theater. This would be my starter list: The Hot, The Cool, and the Vicious Death Duel of Kung Fu Chinatown Kid Kickboxer's Tears Flash Point This would be a good introduction to a New Black Belt/NewDrive-In Movie/New Fist of Fury Theater

Member shaolinkng7 Posted August 22, 2009 Author Member Share Posted August 22, 2009 urm 50% of 5 movies is 2.5 films? So I've gone for 2 pre 83 old school films It is a shame that no one bothers to completely read posts anymore. I did not say that you are limited to 5 movies. I said you are limited to no more than 5 movies that aired on the ORIGINAL BBT THEATER. The reason for this rule is A] if I didn't then everyone would pick the same movies from the original BBT and probably completely ignore everything else. B] realistically Shaw Brothers is most likely never again going to give a single company exclusive broadcast rights to their library in North America. You would be lucky if you did get a 5 picture syndication deal with them. And yes I know that World Northal also syndicated movies from First Films, Eternal, Golden Harvest and other studios. But those would be the films you added last. Even "Angry Guest" would make your list before you even thought of adding "Kung Fu Conspiracy" I said pick enough movies for at least three packages. A package could be as much as 24 movies. You must figure that a package is about the same as a season. 24 would be just enough so that a station could air 1 a week and only have to repeat all the movies once before the next package is available. 50% of 24 is 12. That is 12 Old School, 6 from the mid 80's to late 90's, and about 6 more recent movies. for all 3 packages together that would be 36 old school, 18 mid 80's to late 90's, and 18 recent. If you think a package should have less movies than 24 then that is your decision. BUT FIVE MOVIES???? Here is what my list would be. PACKAGE #1 Let me get the 5 original BBT's out of the way. 5 masters of Death Challenge of the Ninja Avenging Eagle Savage 5 Super Ninjas The other 7 Old School films.. Beach of he War Gods Deep Thrust ( Lady Whirlwind ) Eagles Shadow The One Armed Swordsman Prodigal Son Secret Rivals Secret Rivals II In the Line of Duty ( Royal Warriors ) Mr Vampire Once Upon a Time in China Once Upon a Time in China II Once Upon a Time in China III Rumble in the Bronx Hero House of Flying Daggers Ip Man Kung Fu Hustle New Police Story Shaolin Soccer PACKAGE #2 18 Bronzemen 18 Bronzemen II 8 Diagram Pole Fighter House of Traps The Man from Hong Kong Master of the Flying Guillotine ( One Armed Boxer II ) My Young Auntie One Armed Boxer Project A One Armed Swordsman Returns Triple Irons ( New One Armed Swordsman ) The Victim Police Story Police Story II In the Line of Duty III In the Line of Duty IV Middle Man ( In the Line of Duty V ) The Bride with White Hair Forbidden Kingdom Fearless Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior Fatal Contact Curse of the Golden Flower D.O.A.: Dead or Alive PACKAGE #3 Shaolin Temple ( Jet Li ) Ninja in the Dragon's Den The Himalayan A Fist Full of Talons Disciples of the 36th Chamber Spiritual Boxer Spiritual Boxer II The Chinese Boxer Half Loaf of Kung Fu The 7 Grand Masters Enter the Fat Dragon Wheels on Meals Iron Monkey Fist of Legend The Pedicab Driver Fong Si Yuk Fong Si Yuk II Eastern Condors The Protector ( 2006 ) House of Fury Warriors of Heaven and Earth Dragon Tiger Gate The Legend of Zu ( 2001 ) Throw Down There. A mix of Camp, Classics, and Historic Milestones, just like the original BBT had.
