The only cut to the UK video version was to remove an ear-clap.

I think the old tape was passed before they started removing butterfly knives.

I actually have an old school full screen Cantonese language VHS of the film (my dad's a fan of the film, and he bought it at a local Chinese video shop years ago), and aside from Chinese language opening and ending credits, I don't think there's any difference.

Just in case you didn't know, Jackie's HK version of The Protector actually has a longer fight scene between him and Bill Wallace than the US version shows. I think Chan added these scenes later after the US film had rapped, but the HK version fight is much better. It also has a short scene where Wallace fights Lee Hoi Sang and and added scenes with Sally Yeh (or is it Yip?).

Yeah, Jackie re-edited the film for the HK release. It's well known that Jackie was very unhappy with Glickenhaus' direction.

Both are correct -- but she uses Yeh.
