If this is true, time to spend the kids' college fund!

I was just telling my son that he could probably learn more valuable lessons from these Shaw films than from school anyway! XD

Didn't winfred report something similar a month ago?

h

Did he? I don't remember that. But I did think "I'm surprised Winfred didn't know this first." Pretty funny.

If I'm not mistaken, I seem to recall Winfred mentioning that a contact of his (either at IVL or Celestial) said that they will not release any more titles for 2009 after Lost Souls.

On that note, there was some hype that Celestial would possibly release more titles after Lost Souls, but hasn't so far. For now, I'd rather wait to hear more definitive proof on these titles.

Yes I did report it but then I got an odd email from my Celestial friend that they are still remastering The Brain Stealers. So I don't know when we will actually see these titles.

Let me send him a chaser.

There's no news or announcement in Celestial Website. I am not convinced until I see something official, and again why did they skip To Kill A Mastermind :(

Nevertheless if this is somewhat true, I'll be picking up these titles

Black Magic Part II (1976)

The Brain Stealers (1968)

Deadly Angels (1977)

Hong Kong Godfather (1985)

The Killer (1971)

Mad, Mad 83 (1983)

Mini-Skirt Gang (1975)

Mission Impossible (1970)

The Mysterious Lady-Killer (1977)

Na Cha and the 7 Devils (1971)

Operation Lipstick (1966)

Painted Faces (1988)

The Psychopath (1978)

Were some of these were previously released on VCD by Celestial? I recall seeing titles like Brain Stealers, Purple Shell and Painted Faces in their .pdf catalog. I was wondering if they were actually released since I could never actually find them for sale.

Anyways, fantastic news if this is true, fingers crossed.

Have to take this news with a grain of salt. Considering the source, these releases are no doubt to coincide with the 16 Sparkling Diamonds / Shaw Brothers Stars European Tour.

As mentioned in another thread, one of the films, MINI-SKIRT GANG, is coming out on dvd in June in Scandinavia.

Celestial is celebrating 50 years of Shaw Bros on their site, so it makes sense that they would try to release something in conjunction with the 50th anniversary. I heard that TKAM was coming out this year, but I don't know now, especially since Celestial no longer has the prints in their possession.

This site may not be the best source for good informations, but the guy that wrote this seems to have a connection to HK and Shaw for decades.

So, Celestial is working on these titles, but as you know, this does not mean that they are going to be released soon and not everyone of these will be released on DVD.

Well.. it's almost June 2009, what are they waiting for ?

I am really not positive about the credibility of that site, after that fabricated rumor about the Shaw Brothers Stars Tour.

Any new release from Golden Harvest or Cathay this year ?

Cathay has many wuxia movies still not released, wonder why. If they still keep and don't releases, their fans will no longer be living :)

So, is it time to call BS on most of these films being released? Celestial's 50th anniversary of SB on their site is to sell SB VCDs for cheap.
