If you have ever seen Hero Dream, well, nothing that Chin siu Ho does would surprise you. Not recommended, BTW.

I some times wonder if some of these old kung fu stars such as Tien Peng, or Wang Lung Wei, simply had too many injuries, and just quit. Anyway, no one seems to know if Peng went on to TVB, eh?

Well, I read that Tien Peng was in prison for murder, some kind of triad hit, etc. This was just a rumor, but considering some of these guys connections (Wang Yu, Lung Fei), it shouldn't be a surprise. I don't think that he was a big enough of a star for this to be remembered.

I read on another forum that Tien Peng did at least one tv series with Chang Ling, Fan Mei Sheng and other familiar Shaw Brothers' actors, but I don't know the name of the series.

Here's a link where to find it, if someone can translate the name of the series, or give at least the pinyin translation...

To finish up this thread, I heard from a good source, Toby Russell that Peng lives in Shanghai. Also, he did do some time, and was known for getting into scuffles ( a sword fight with Wang Yu, for one). As far as why he quit, the movies and he were not making any money anymore, so he moved on. He wouldn't be the first actor to burn out.

I'd love to read more about Lung Fei's triad history. In one film, he plays a crook, called Lung Fei, who is also an actor!

Didn't Chen Chi-Hwa and Tony Liu do time as well?

Tony Liu of Way of the Dragon, etc? He seemed so clean cut!

I remember reading somewhere that Tony Lui did time for assaulting a woman back in the 80's and speaking of other Bruce Lee co-stars who've done time, according to Dr. Craig Reid in his insightful book The Ultimate Guide To Martial Arts Movies Of The 1970's, Paul Wei Ping-Ao did some time in prison for stabbing his wife...

Not ol' Wei! I thought he was gay, was she a beard or something?

Tien Peng is one of my favorite kung fu movie stars.

The question is did he ever make a really bad movie?

Every movie I have seen of his never has failed me.

BTW did he ever play a villain?

The only other person I can think of who never played (or had the chance to play) a villian is Fu Sheng.

I wouldn't consider him a villian in Return of The Sentimental Swordsman but a misguided/manipulated soul who at the end after Ku Feng is killed no longer wanted to fight Ti Lung or Derek Yee though he had the chance to beat them.

Tien Peng is a legend when it comes to sword plays. but I'm not a fan of a lot of his bashers. And I hated Magnum Fist, and The Shaolin Kids aka Shaolin Death Squad. Shaolin Kids is especially disappointing because of the cast and director.

I was surprised with how much I liked Infernal Street. I haven't seen The Big Fight, though.

How about that.

Thanks thekfc.

Just as I figured.

He played in at least 63 films.

Pretty impressive to have never played a baddie!

On second thoughts I don't think he appears in Infernal Street?. He definitely stars in The Big Fight & Hands Of Death though.

I don't know GD, I have to choose Phillip Kwok as the greatest Taiwanese hero actor!

With that said, I've seen very little from Tien Peng.
