I've got a confession.... I hate the three section staff! I think it's a clunky weapon, and it looks clunky on screen... NO MATTER WHO IS WIELDING IT! So don't bother listing examples.

Maybe it's because I suck at it in real life, I don't know!

Has your opinion changed over the past 12 years?

Hsieh Hsing (who later went on to be one Chang Cheh's choreographers) wields one in One-Armed Boxer (1972).

Lau Kar-Wing wields one in its sequel, Master of the Flying Guillotine (1976).

"Shaolin Temple 2: Kids From Shaolin" shows Jet Li using the three sectioned staff rather superbly (it also features in the first outing)...

Not just Jet Li, but villain Sun Jian-Kui and his partner, too.

I watched Dirty Tiger, Crazy Frog a couple days ago and was blown away by the three section staff vs three section staff final duel. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.

I like Avenging Eagle as a movie, but I tip my hat to Lau Kar Fai  in Heroes of The East.

Apparently he was doubled for some of that by Liu Chia-liang.

That part where he spins it behind his back, and a few other shots, you can just tell that it's Pops and not Gordon. Still, amazing scene.
