Has anyone seen this very cheesy martial arts film? It was directed, written, produced, and starred a former kickboxing champion named Anthony "Amp" Elmore. It was kind of a Rocky-esque autobiographical film on how Elmore trained in martial arts as a child and then went on to rise through the ranks to become a hero in his hometown of Memphis, TN as a kickboxing champion.

You can tell it was very low budgeted but on a level of story, had a Rocky-esque feel to it and the kickboxing ring sequences were not too bad because they were as if you would see the real thing on ESPN2.

Cheesy, but enjoyable at the same time.

Elmore, by the way, has long retired and is now a devout Buddhist. Here's his official site:

Iron Thunder should have been the name of a Top Gun or Iron Eagle cash-in.

It actually is...the original name of the film was The Contemporary Gladiator. I believe Xenon Pictures renamed it Iron Thunder
