After Little thought the top 5 of my 'old school' list that instantly come to mind are...

1.) Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris: Way of the Dragon

2.) Jackie Chan vs. Wong In Sik: The Young Master (uncut)

3.) Liang Jia Ren vs. Everyone: (at the ending of...) The Thundering Mantis

4.) Sammo Hung vs. Liu Chia Yung: The Odd Couple (the best sword vs. pole all time)

5.) Tsui Siu Keung vs. Damian Lau: Duel to the Death

Now, before everyone jumps down my back, these were right off the top of my head, fights which have always stood out for various reasons. Most of these were one on one battles with the exception of Thundering Mantis, which has to be seen to be believed: Beardy goes nuts, (literally) right before our eyes!!

Add to this what you will, keep what's usefull, discard what is useless, make it your own thereafter....

I never 'got' the appeal of the Bruce vs Chuck fight. I didnt like it. Never liked it. I liked the two short fights before that, against Wall and the Korean guy, better.

I also liked the end fight between Baker and Bruce in Fist of Legend better.

Although I wouldnt have ANY Bruce fight in my old-skool top 5, I think.

Not sure which ones would be in there, cause my memory aint that great, plus I havent seen many classics yet.

I was impressed by Kara Hui in 8th diagram pole fighter though.

The appeal of the Lee/Norris battle was realism. Not the realism of Bruce's dominance, however, the realism of the choreography. It doesn't get any better between two real martial artists when you're talking about timing, broken/ unbroken rhythim, and accurate display of speed, power, and the residual effects thereof...

All you need do is look at all of the films that had real martial artists and how between the fighters, some looked robotic, slow, timing off, totally unrealistic, and some look utterly superior to their counterparts, leaving viewers to feel, ' there's no way he'd beat that guy in a real fight'.

The Way of the Dragon finale never gives the viewer that impression. The two combatants, we are made to believe, could do what you're seeing onscreen, in real life.

I agree 100%. Lee and Norris were 2 real high level martial artists and their fight did not look over choreographed like a dance but was fluid and alive. It was one of the most realistic "staged" fights I've ever seen. Lee was incredibly ahead of his time.

The entire choreographed fight scenes throughout Green Jade Statuette. No matter how many more times I see this film, the fights come off as simply, as good as they'll ever come.

This flick is definitely one of my all time favorite "indie" hand to hand films. The story, THE PLOT (arguably one of the most solid you'll come by in the genre), the pacing, the dialogue (especially considering how appropriately the eng trans, deliver). This flick is pretty well rounded.

The end fight in Hot, The Cool, And The Vicious is right up there too.

Shaolin King Boxer as well as the awesome last four fights in Chen Kuan Tai's Iron Monkey 77'

Vengeance w/ David Chiang and Ti Lung

The Duel w/ Ti Lung and again David Chiang

Actually, there are so many best 'old school' fight scenes of all time...
