Member HyperDrive Posted February 11, 2009 Member Share Posted February 11, 2009 I watched this Indonesian Bruceploitation flick yesterday and have to say it is one of the grittier and more raw kung fu/martial arts films I've seen. It's closer to older Tony Jaa stuff than other Bruceploitation films in my view. This is one of those where the fights include anything they find on the ground including logs, oars, shovels, metal poles, and etc. Nunchuku and tonfas are seen and the head bad guy has some sort of extendable blade as well. Of course, this leads to some over the top deaths. There's also a full scale catfight. As for Steve Lee, he had all the Bruce mannerisms down pat and used a variety of styles (to simulate JKD?). One fight, he wrapped his foe up in a leglock and in another, he went into crane stance for a few seconds. Lastly, the soundtrack was mostly 70's synth. I'll upload the trailer and maybe the intro onto Youtube probably this weekend.

Member ShawAngela Posted July 24, 2019 Member Share Posted July 24, 2019 Well...I had a strange feeling after finishing this movie...The fights are good and the plot is the usual plot of this kind of movie : evil gang taking advantage of people, killing the hero's mother and girlfriend (though that boss had asked his men to bring her to him, they rape and kill her without being punished for disobeying...a little flaw in the plot, unless the English dialogues don't match the original language ones...) and he takes revenge on them. It's mentioned as a Bruce exploitation movie and the guy uses Bruce's screams and attitudes, but...I'm not an expert on Bruce Lee but I don't think he has ever used any animal shapes in his fights and here, I recognized at least the snake, the tiger, the monkey and maybe the eagle styles...And it's even mentioned on the cover that the hero uses Jeet Kune Do, which I strongly doubt !

It's not like a Bruceploitation movie to not be entirely truthful! I also got through watching this one recently, and gave it the full review treatment over at COF.
