Member Yu_Xihong Posted January 2, 2009 Member Share Posted January 2, 2009 At this point I'm tired of traditional kung fu movies. However, I've pulled a 180 and now I have an interest in the movies I used to hate... the contemporary exploitationals. I'm looking for stuff similar to what's on this list of movies I've seen already. Tea House Chinatown Kid Drug Addicts Big Bad Sis Four Riders Big Brother Cheng Black Magic 1-2 Kidnap Sexy Killer Bamboo House of Dolls Kiss of Death (loved these 4) If it has crime, guns, knives, smut, casinos, funny clothes, funky music, and hilarious haircuts I'm interested. Here's what I'm considering. King Gambler The Big Hold Up The Call Girls The Girlie Bar Brothers From the Walled City Hell Has no Boundary (unrelated but I'm a Derek Yee fan) Men From the Gutter Notorious 8 Aside from what's on this list, does anyone have any recommendations? And does anyone have any comments on these?
Member Chinatown Kid Posted January 3, 2009 Member Share Posted January 3, 2009 The Delinquent is a sure bet, Wang Chung's best performance! And full of grit, violence and sleaze.....
Administrator KUNG FU BOB Posted January 3, 2009 Administrator Share Posted January 3, 2009 LOST SOULS is a super sick exploitation one, and I really loved INTIMATE CONFESSIONS OF A CHINESE COURTESAN- mystery, bloody nastiness, nudity, and a great cast and cool direction. Also, KILLER SNAKES!
Member HAZ Posted January 3, 2009 Member Share Posted January 3, 2009 Big Brother Cheng is worth seeing. The Call Girls is a weird film. Chang Cheh is in it for a second. Lady Professional is worth checking out too. I'll co-sign Intimate Confessions & Killer Snakes, too. The Delinquent is great!
Member venom10463 Posted January 4, 2009 Member Share Posted January 4, 2009 Those are all great choices, but you should check out Hong Kong Godfather first.
Member The Dragon Posted January 4, 2009 Member Share Posted January 4, 2009 ... and I really loved INTIMATE CONFESSIONS OF A CHINESE COURTESAN- mystery, bloody nastiness, nudity, and a great cast and cool direction! Ha! Yeah, it's almost like some of the old Japanese skin flicks from the late 60's/early 70's.
Member Tosh Posted January 5, 2009 Member Share Posted January 5, 2009 I think Boxers Omen is about as exploitive/strange as it gets. But yeah if you realy want some ultra violent shit go towards the Japanese Yakuza films from the 70's.
Member Yu_Xihong Posted January 7, 2009 Author Member Share Posted January 7, 2009 Maybe I should transition into gang movies. I just like the novelty of seeing the Shaw stars in different environments. I haven't seen the Delinquent, Lady Professional, or Boxer's Omen. I might have to get 2 rounds of movies next time. I REALLY want to see Lady Exterminator but I think that's still VHS only. And when you say "Hong Kong Godfather" do you mean with Liang Chia Ren or some other movie? I would like to see that one also, but isn't that one too still VHS?
Member vengeanceofhumanlanterns Posted January 7, 2009 Member Share Posted January 7, 2009 Bloody Parrot will surely please. There are a bunch others like Haunted Tales, Seeding Of The Ghost, The Sugar Daddies, Portrait In Crystal, Sensual Pleasures, and Corpse Mania, etc. Just go on Five Star Laser and scroll through the Hong Kong DVDs you'll find more. Member Alex Posted January 8, 2009 Member Share Posted January 8, 2009 venom, any idea where i can find that one^^^ i liked Men from the gutter a lot, a very fast paced and gritty action thriller that reminded me more of the more lowbudget european and american action movies of the 70s/early 80s than anything asian. Same goes for Pursuit of the Killer Brothers from the walled city looked similar, but turned out to be very anti climatic.
