Member kungpowmaster Posted December 26, 2008 Member Share Posted December 26, 2008 Hi, One of my favorite genres is the Italo crime action films. Anyone else here a fan of these? I have collected quite a lot on DVD of what's been available in the USA. Called polizioteschi, if I spelled that right, usually concerns a cop in his effort to fight crime. Then there are the ones that are from the view of the criminals. The last DVD I got(today) is Lucio Fulci's "Contraband". I have Lenzi's "Syndicate Sadists" on it's way. I really like the NoShame DVD releases(another great label that folded). I have about all theirs of this genre. Blue Underground also have some great ones. Anchor Bay also did some I think, I have one I know of. Sometimes this kinda blends with giallo, which often has a supernateral aspect, but then sometimes just a straight up murder mystery. But leaving that specific genre(giallo) for another post, let's stick with crime actioners here. My number 1 fave is Leniz's "Almost Human" with Tomas Milian. I also really like "The Big Racket". Milian is great, I have him in Emergency Squad, and a PD dvd, "Cop In Blue Jeans". Another fave star of mine is Franco Nero, he is great is "Street Law", directed by Castelleri, who also did, "The Heroin Busters", and more. Well so far in this genre I have collected: Double Game Tony: Another Double Game Colt 38 Special Squad The Rip-Off Gambling City Convoy Busters The Last Round Almost Human Emergency Squad The Heroin Busters Street Law The Big Racket Violent City Confessions of a Police Captain Mob Boss Cop in Blue Jeans How to Kill a Judge Contraband I'm going by memory here, I may have missed some, On order I got coming: The Grand Slam Revolver Syndicate Sadists Anyone else into these and a collector of them? Member dionbrother Posted December 27, 2008 Member Share Posted December 27, 2008 I just watched three of Tomas Milian's Nico Giraldi movies from German dvds(they have english dub tracks). Fun flicks, but Eurotrash fans seem divided on them. You can order them for around $10 from the German version of Amazon. No Shame screwed up by not releasing more in your face classics like VIOLENT ROME or VIOLENT NAPLES. Certainly superior to releasing anything starring Luc Meranda. Member venoms5 Posted June 15, 2009 Member Share Posted June 15, 2009 yea italian crime films are very underrated IMO. slowly becoming my new favorite genre and when did no shame fold? NoShame, the USA division, ceased production around a year to a year and a half ago. Their Eurocrime releases tanked here which is why Lustig never released HIGH CRIME as his crime discs didn't sell, either. NoShame Italy is still around of course. Some of their discs are English friendly (subs or dubs), but some are not.

Member make believe Posted October 10, 2009 Member Share Posted October 10, 2009 This thread really has reminded me this is a genre I have yet to really explore. Conrtraband is classic. Rabid Dogs is top notch sleaze. I've heard of quite a few of these titles but never went after them. Maybe it is time. Are these movies typically slow paced? I hate to ask but, what are some recommendations that Netflix might carry? Is it simple enough to obtain uncut and with the proper aspect ratio / language etc versions of these movies?
