I have K&R's Red Sun release (starring Charles Bronson & Toshiro Mifune), which is region free and a PAL to NTSC transfer. Best of all the DVD versions out there though. Not sure what direction Shaw will go.

I'm talking about Blu-Ray region coding.

I know... I was just mentioning what was done for a Standard-def disc produced by K&R.

Well, this doesn't help Mark at all, but for anyone in the US, HK is the same blue ray region so !!!!!

Not having England, Germany, France in our region is a bummer, but we get pretty much everything in Asia except Mainland China.

I'm not sure I'll be upgrading many of my SB dvds though, unless they're going to fix existing problems or release some unreleased movies. BDs are just too expensive. To be worthy of that kind of money they'll need to be real HD or have something prior releases are missing.

I hope that this is a sign that all the unreleased Shaws could come out eventually. I heard that Celestial has not restored all of their materials. With all of the films being donated to the film archives, it was looking like these movies were going to be lost for good. Blu-ray would be nice, but I'll be thrilled with dvd format. As long as we get to see them.

I wish someone could tell them to re-do their subtitles, make sure all are with mono options and that all frames don't have ghosting/interlacing.

I'll try to contact them.

My Celestial exec pal just emailed to say they are still in the midst of remastering The Brain Stealers. Looks like it will be awhile before we see the new releases.

Any idea what Blu Ray discs go for in Hong Kong? If they're still making VCDs because most people prefer to buy that format for it's cheap price, then Blu Ray discs will probably turn out to be well over $100HK compared to the $85HK the IVL shaws are currently going for. Unless they're anticipating an overseas market in addition to the HK market, if those Blu Ray discs really are the same region as the US.

Looks like we will wait a while to see The Brain Stealers, but hopefully the other titles should be on their way soon.

If they're planning to release 37 Shaws this year at about 4 a month, they need to get them motoring in May.

Tried phoning 'Kam & Ronson Media Group', but all I got was an answering machine I'm not even sure was their's as it claimed something else (despite the number).

Does anyone have an email for them? I can't seem to find a website!
