Chang Cheh's - Empty Hand to Weapons Play

I don't know if this has been discussed anywhere. Am I wrong when I make the observations that the Chang Cheh Venoms films changed focus from empty handed combat films to almost exclusively weapons films (almost mimicking the Chu Yuan films). If this was the case, was it Chang who made the shift, or was it the Venoms? I noticed Lo Mang disappeared from the crew around the time they went all-weapons.

It was Chang. Chor Yuen was rivalling him in terms of being prolific, so Chang had to up the ante. Naturally, Lo Mang couldn't keep up, so he was collateral damage.
