Just finished this. The clips already show the best part. The rest of the movie is just blah. Grown up Miu Tse has decent skills though. Hopefully he can take part in a better film after this one.

The trailer is about the best part of the film. I was waiting to see the show down between the two brothers as promised in the trailer, but it never happened. The show down stopped where the trailer stopped. Ambitious movie but not necessarily realising that ambition well.

I must agree completely that Yu Rong Gwong is one of the best and most under rated screen martial artists of our times. Even in stinky low budget fare his sheer awesomeness usually shines through in the action scenes.

Tsui Siu Ming too is very underrated and why didn't he make a lot more movies ?! He's great ! Buddhist Fist is testament to his immense kills.

Wow, what a weird movie... The begining had some musical feel to it. I expected them to start to sing at any moment.:P

Seriously though fightwise, there is some great handwork and shapes to be appreciated. It was nice to see the Iron Monkey himself back in action. Tze Miao has changed quite a bit, I didn't event recognize him! I was expecting someone chubbier from what he looked like as a kid. He grew up to be a very good martial artists and I'd like to see more of him in the future... Vs Wu jing ? That would be sweet. Fights are quite frequent but unfortunately mostly brief and like everyone said before, wires spoils things a bit. It's not the amount of the wire use that bothers me, but just that it looks awkward (I don't think I spelled that right). It's too bad because everyone involved is extremely talented, but they are a bit wasted by bad wirework and the short time of most fights.

The movie itself... Well, let's just say the Chinese censorship didn't have to wok to hard on this one... It's overall pretty stupid and everyone is over acting.

So basically not worth buying imo, but still worth checking out.

I saw this two days ago and after the disaster named "Legendary Assassin", I thought it was pretty nice. I can see the propaganda for the Olympic games, however the fights were better than those in Wu Jin's movie - there was wirework, but it doesn't looked so bad as I was expected.

The scrpit is pretty simple and not distracting from the fighting scenes - I'll get this one for my collection - I think it's worth (at least for me) the time and money :)

Tse Mui was looking good onscreen I can't believe how quickly the time has passed between My father is a hero and New legend of Shaolin and this one. A nice try IMO :)

Looks like I'll be passing this up in Chinatown this weekend! Hopefully, Ip Man will be in the stores.

If you're going to buy bootlegs, why not download it...;) At least nobody's making money off of it. Then you'll see if they're worth owning a legit copy. Anyway, that's what I do.XD

Ip Man should be out on a legit dvd this weekend on Clark. I want that!!! The Champions thing might not even be worth the bandwith!

Oops... Sorry about that, guess I assumed to much. Maybe I'll go have a walk over there then;). Any idea in what range of prices it will be?

Lol, yeah hardly. And don't forget the price of a DVD to burn it. You might be better off checking up the fights on youtube. It took me three times to watch the damn thing, I kept falling asleep.

I'm guessing 25 bucks for the 2-dvd version.

I liked this one quite a bit, maybe because my expectations were diminished by some of the reactions here

yeah the story was stupid and i fast forwarded a bit here and there, but it's made up for by plentiful well staged action. I wasn't expecting this to be a good movie anyway, it just falls into the multitude of other KF movies I own that were bought strictly for the fights. It's like pornography with Eagle Claw instead of the Money Shot.

the amount of wire-work is indeed surprising, but it's not any worse than what's used in tons of early 90s movies that are now considered classic. every moment with Yu Ron Guang is a treat, and the rest of the fighters can hold their own as well. I was a little bummed that it was the same characters fighting each other over and over again, but there was enough variation in styles to keep me from getting bored. there were also a few nice set pieces emphasizing the creative use of environment and foreign objects, something that's not staged too often these days

def a pleasant surprise, i'd rank it alongside Fatal Contact on the same tier of 'just watch the fights, ffw the rest' movies from teh last few years
