Member Winfred Posted September 1, 2008 Member Share Posted September 1, 2008 Lately I have managed to transfer Lovers Blades, Mission Impossible and The Brain Stealers to DVD as my videos were in PAL. However when I tried to do the same with NTSC tapes like The Enchanted Chamber, I could not get any colour. Does anyone know why? My video player is multi-system and so is my TV. If the Panasonic DVD recorder is the culprit, how come my NTSC laserdiscs came out fine on DVD? Thanks for all your advice.
Member David Rees Posted September 1, 2008 Member Share Posted September 1, 2008 Make sure the dvd recorder is set to record pure ntsc and vcr is set to out put pure ntsc too. Are they original tapes?..If so they may have macrovision copy protection on them to stop copying. It sounds like a vcr problem if your laserdiscs copied ok. Member Winfred Posted September 1, 2008 Author Member Share Posted September 1, 2008 Hi David Before I had the DVD recorder, this VCR played the NTSC tapes beautifully in colour. So I suspect incompatibility of the DVD recorder with the VCR. Tonight I tried another NTSC tape and this time I can see Lily Li in colour but with some annoying black bands across the bottom part of the screen. I don't think the King's Videos have copyright protection.
