Still on the Blackmore thing, dammit. Maybe someone can help identify the jingle Ritchie plays at the 2:05 mark. It reminds me of an Old Spice commercial. I can't nail it down for the life of me. I love this version of 'Hush'.

(It's the Popeye the sailor man song @ 2:05!)

The solo in Stargazer just can't be over taken on my top 10 list, and I've been trying for a while. Weird dude, but he certainly put the work in!

I might be mistaken (I hope not!) but it looks like he found peace of mind, performing as Blackmore's Night, with wife Candice Night and band. Cute :)

Yeah, you never see Ritchie smile like that. He finally found someone to make him happy, good for him.

I think they have a 12 year old daughter and 10 year old son. They actually live pretty close to me although I'm sure I'll never run into them at a Walmart! That would be cool though. He'd probably take a swing at me for saying hello, but since he's almost 80, I think I could take him! Maybe..... I've listened to a lot of great guitarists that I like a lot or as much or more than him, but he does have a great style of playing. I'm still trying to find a guitar solo that will knock the one from Stargazer out of my #1 spot. The list changes depending on my mood, but that always seems to be #1 for me. The stuff he plays on his Gibson on Hush (Concerto version) is just amazing, and the outro solo of 'Strange kind of Woman'. He really is amazing. Next week it might be Gary Rossington, Frank Zappa or Tony Iommi, but this is Ritchie's week! (I listen to the same thing over and over until I need to move on for my musical sanity).

A Light in the Black has an amazing solo also. Gates of Babylon...I feel so lucky to have heard these pieces. Just to be alive while this type of music was being made is such a privilege to me.  Nice pics ;)

Used to love Kiss, Iron Maiden, System Of a Down, Burzum, Marduk, Slayer, Metallica etc few decades mut taste changed slowly. Still like them if hear in bars and sometimes attend to concerts if really big name comes here but home listening. Almost never metal+or anything made with traditional instruments.

I listened to Ritchie into the ground, then a lot of Black sabbath....now onto Pink Floyd.

They never disappoint. I put them on the shelf a long time and a fresh listen does wonders.

Dogs is my favorite song. I'll put it here for someone that might be inspired by it.

'Echoes' might have been 2nd choice. They sold some records in their time.

Happy 48th birthday to this #1 hit song by some guy named John Lennon, with his friend Elton helping out a bit.

The best thing about this song is the all timer of a bass line, played by the great Dee Murray.

It's like its own song within a song. One of the sickest bass performances I ever heard.

I'm a sucker for Floyd and have been replaying this for many months. I do need to visit some of their earliest stuff still, as Ive only listened to portions of the 1967-70 releases, but not the full albums. The Division Bell Posters for Sale | Redbubble

Bonivers last two releases, kanye west inspired folktronic? cool.  And Bladee, took me too long to get into him always failed when I tried, one of the pioneers of cloud rap (alongside others, still need to truly figure out the origins myself). Very helpful discovery since my favorite uk rapper Bexey, who was probably heavily inspired by bladee and yung lean, doesnt really make music, or as interesting of music anymore.

Was initially trying to listen to tons of cloud rap, early denzel curry, lean, lil b, clams casino, lofty, bones, xavier wulf etc but ended up just becoming listening to bladee for now lol.

@AlexanderFu Always wanted to see the More film that they made the soundtrack for, cant even remember a thing about what it is off the top of my head. Thats a cool soundtrack album. Grabbed an original meddle a few years ago, my fave floyd as well. Really nothing too memorable save for an early hit or two from their pre-meddle work disincluding the debut.  What blows my mind is how they were a household name before syd left and their style became more fleshed out. Its like they were a notorious band in three different arenas, their brand of 60s psych, then their brand of 70s ‘space rock’, then how their style seamlessly adapted to the 80s. The really early stuff is honestly some of the most annoyingly silly with syd on vocals, his solo stuff even moreso, but its all pretty good as well.

The two bands from the 60s/70s that sound timeless to me, meaning that they sound like they could have been made yesterday are pink floyd and the doors, and not that anything nowadays would ever sound like them, but they dont necessarily resemble anything else at their time or sound stuff in their time or sound dated to me. Being a huge doors fan I recently heard an interview where Jim Morrison sound Pink Floyd were one of his favorite bands and he was very impressed by their musicianship and could listen to them all day, so awesome to hear, and this would have been before meddle.

Very well said. :thumbsup

I've never seen More either. Maybe I'll look for it. Cymbaline and The Nile Song are great, but I need to listen to it in whole, as I'm doing right now for Saucerful of Secrets. I haven't seen La Valle (Obscured By Clouds) yet either, but some good stuff on that. I think I only like See Emily Play and Bike (Arnold Layne also) so far from Syd. See Emily Play and some spaced out songs got them through the Sid years, imo. Then they lucked out with David Gilmour and were able to transform into what they became. Once they became the 4 they were for their best material, I wish They'd have broken up after The Wall. Nothing after that is up to snuff, imo.  They owned the '70s, even as much as Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. Best selling double album (The Wall/1979) 3rd best selling album after Thriller and Back in Black - Dark Side of the moon (1973). In between, Wish You Were Here and Animals (My favorite).

The Doors are a favorite. Probably my 1st favorite band, maybe The Beatles were 1st, but I was 9 or 10, so they were up there. I love Jim Morrison, he was created to sing in that low beautiful voice. I like all the songs that aren't best known. Love Street, Wintertime Love, The Spy, Queen of the Highway, The Soft Parade, The Changeling.

I'll probably switch from Floyd to The doors for a while because of this post. I'm not done with my Floyd obsession, but The Doors need some attention now that I have them in the ears. :thumbsup

I'm not big on today's hip hop or pop music, but I will submit this as best of the Hip Hop/Rap genre.

One of my favorites.  I liked their last 2 albums more than the 1st 2. They were definitely going in the right music direction, but sales went the other way. I'll never understand that. Awesome :wink2:

Currently listening to Belmont - Aftermath and it's probably one of my favorite albums of this year. Not to mention the song below has been on repeat. But what makes the album so good is the versatility. Great band and great sound!

In the spirit of the season, been listening to some Xmas music. Some versions people might not have heard before. Here's a classic sung by IMO the greatest vocalist of all time, John Farnham, funny that people have previously talked here of Ritchie Blackmore, as he actually considered John to join Deep Purple for what became Slaves And Masters.

Merry Xmas

Dragon Sound - Friends

I had the Miami Connection blu ray for awhile with the bonus CD and decided to play the entire CD today. It's fucking hilarious at the club when they're playing this song wearing gi's barechested and none of the guitars are hooked up to amps and Y.K. Kim is jamming with his air guitar. :bs_cracking_up:
