Member SamuraiDana Posted October 5, 2008 Member Share Posted October 5, 2008 I think I commented on this in another thread here. I have the Fortune Star DVD of INVINCIBLE EIGHT. The movie's not bad, but it's kind of a knock-off of the swordplay movies Lo Wei himself had been making at Shaw Bros., e.g. BROTHERS FIVE with Cheng Pei Pei, which was a much better film. Angela Mao plays one of the eight. It's not a starring role. She only has one major fight scene of her own and the rest are mass fight scenes where the eight take on the bad guys, Pai Ying and his "Nine Whips," one of whom is Sammo Hung. Lydia Shum is one of the eight and it's pretty great to see her in a fighting role when she was in her 20s. The original trailer is included on the DVD and it includes footage from an outdoor fight scene involving the entire cast that is not in the actual film. It's important for being early Golden Harvest and early Angela, but it's no classic.
