Member Killer Meteor Posted July 17, 2008 Member Share Posted July 17, 2008 I know of Triumph By Two Kung Fu Arts Descendents of Wing Chun Story of Drunken Master (bit cropped, about 2.10:1) South Shaolin Vs North Shaolin Were there any more films released in the original aspect ratio? I'm not counting the cut German prints like Fatal Flying Guillotine
Member chen lung Posted July 17, 2008 Member Share Posted July 17, 2008 'Demon Strike' was done like 'Drunk Mantis' Soulblade trying to get as much resolution as possible, but it's otherwise close to 2:35:1 when stretched out and in Mandarin with burnt-in subs. Member chen lung Posted July 19, 2008 Member Share Posted July 19, 2008 what program did you use to strech it out? If you've a widescreen TV, you can set your player to letterbox and and your TV to 'full'. Alternatively, if you have WinDVD and a CRT monitor, you could try and make use of the extra resolution by changing your geometry settings (also getting ATI and setting the res to 720x576 @ 75HZ etc). Member dMG Posted July 19, 2008 Member Share Posted July 19, 2008 Media Player Classic (+ Media Player Classic Home Cinema), and Zoomplayer have functions to stretch the picture horizontally aswell as vertically too.
Administrator KUNG FU BOB Posted July 19, 2008 Administrator Share Posted July 19, 2008 I have a Malata all-region DVD player that has X-Y scaling. This allows you to incrementally stretch verticaly or horizontally. It's awesome! I can take compressed movies and stretch them out to widescreen and also fix the slight squeezing on PAL DVDs too. The Malata I have is now long OOP but if you want the coolest feature ever to grace a DVD player, then look for X-Y scaling next time your buying hardware. Also- I agree on Fabhui's rating for DOWC. Member Killer Meteor Posted July 23, 2008 Author Member Share Posted July 23, 2008 8 Strikes of Wild Cat (about 2.20:1, a bit too tight on the top, and positioned rather oddly in the 4:3 letterbox) Dragon On Fire (widescreen French transfer, pauses on every chapter stop) Dragon, The Hero (I assume this uses Crash Cinema's transfer)
