Member GOLDEN DRAGON YIN-YANG Posted June 16, 2008 Member Share Posted June 16, 2008 I recently watched 'Kung fu Genius' and 'Daggers 8'. I noticed in KFG that Wilson Tong (the foot doctor) directed and wrote the script for this film. Perhaps he also directed D8. KFG is a very good movie Cliff Lok is brilliant. I now understand who the real kung fu genius is and that of course would be Mr. Tong. Some of the finest choreography ever seen. All do to Mr. Tongs great expertise. I did not know he directed films until at this time. My question is; "how many other films did he direct".? What do all think of this mans talent in this capacity as well as his acting and kung fu skills? Maybe some one could give us a short bio on this man who is no doubt one of the greats of the genre. Member GOLDEN DRAGON YIN-YANG Posted June 16, 2008 Author Member Share Posted June 16, 2008 Thanks Tibetan. I had no idea he was was so prolific as a director, actor, writer and producer. I wonder if he is a pure kung fu master. What is his style? Or is he a product of the opera school brand of kung fu? Thanks. GD Y-Y
Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted June 16, 2008 Member Share Posted June 16, 2008 Here's some info on the man, I can't vouch for the credibility of it though. But it sounds about right! http://www.brns.com/hkactors/pages/page43.html
Member Endsang Posted June 16, 2008 Member Share Posted June 16, 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIKQRBAGb-U Check out the sheer awesomeness of his footwork around 0:40. Slight resemblance to old school Yuen brothers choreography.
Member ironfistedmonk Posted June 16, 2008 Member Share Posted June 16, 2008 Wilson is rated, a proper shapes master. You cant be too shabby if Liu Chia Liang has you as an assistant choreographer. Just from that clip in the previous post you can see he has the tempo, pace and fluidity of movement in his action that only the best AD's can attain, very reminiscent of LCL.
