Member falkor Posted June 12, 2008 Member Share Posted June 12, 2008 Two good examples of sport and entertainment in this day and age is Horse Racing and Football (Soccer). In the Roman times, around 2000 years ago, Chariot Racing was one of the main attractions of its day, but the grand daddy of them all was the Amphitheatre or Colosseum. Every major town or city within the Mediterranean basin had one! So far, there has been only one Chariot Racing circuit found in Britain, yet there must have been at least 10 Amphitheatres, including one in London. Besides the blood and gore, Roman audiences enjoyed different fighters with different skills and different weapons being pitted against each other. If the loser put up a good fight then he might be spared. Did the Assyrians know about shapes? They certainly practised a high form of artwork. The ancients enjoyed a good fight, but it seems nowadays this form of entertainment is too specialised and not so easily accessible to the mainstream commercial audiences, who only know about Football and Bruce Lee. Ask somebody on the street if they know of Shaw Brothers, the 5 Venoms or Silver Fox, and the chances are they won't have a clue what you're talking about. And most people will refuse to take an interest if you try and introduce Kung to them. Their loss. Like ancient civilizations, I think the Kung Fu Movie is close to being brought back to life. UK TV audiences are taking an interest in talent shows with record ratings for the TV stations. As soon as a famous group of celebrities endorses Kung, or there is worldwide coverage of 7 Grand Masters (and it has been featured on major News stations) then the rest of the mainstream population should follow suit; this time, they would have something worthwhile to be brainwashed about and realise that all the crappy TV series and soaps they've been watching for so many years is an inferior form of entertainment. I mean, what form of entertainment could possibly be better than Kung!? *Gangster movies, Indiana Jones 4? *Boxing match, street fight? *Dance show, ballet? *Fountains display, Fireworks display? *Air show? *Imagination via a fictional book...? There is no comparison! Kung Fu films are the best form of art and entertainment known to man. Period.

Moderator thekfc Posted June 13, 2008 Moderator Share Posted June 13, 2008 Yeah if we're talking sex or porn I guess Kung would come in third as the best entertainment known to man. It is no longer called porn, its now called Adult Entertainment. Porn is VHS, Adult Entertainment is DVD. Wells that's what I call my collection.
