You're too kind :).

BTW, Aussieland's got a DVD coming out soon that'll no doubt be better than the first disc, whilst Germany just released the uncut one (unlike Joy Sales).

LOL do you even own the german dvd? I bought after it being hyped at the fandom. Its the joy sales dvd with joy sales deleted scenes insterted into the movie and sloppily converted to pal. spanick then copied over the extras from the austraillian screensound dvd. so you paying $40 for a bootleg that stiller sells for $10. take it from me, spanick's overpriced bootlegss are not worth the cash

I've heard a lot of stories about Mr. Wang, and it seems he did make people angry with his tactics. Brawling in nightclubs and have showdowns in the streets were just a couple.

The new Australian DVD is very good. Uncut, anamorphic widescreen, OAR, with commentary, documentary on martial arts films and a bonus short!

Where can I get a hold of this disc?

Fans of "The Man from Hong Kong" might want to read this piece, titled "Jimmy Wang Yu: Jerk?," on Kaiju Shakedown:

http://www.varietyasiaonline.com/kaijushakedown/JIMMY-WANG-YU-JERK

The article isn't too good. It jumps from calling Wang Yu a racist sexist pig then the best example it gives is an Errol Flynn style practical joke

That said, Wang Yu's married life is...interesting, to put it mildly!

I personally loved this film and felt that it should have been given more fame than what it has been given credit for. The leading ladies, Ros Speers and Rebecca Gilling, were absolutely beautiful. I was very lucky to come across its original language version on DVD. I mean none other than its original English language version. Ironically, even though this is Australia's first martial arts film, it has not been given much credit in Australia.

Seems to me like another of those roles written with Bruce Lee in mind...

I could be wrong, but it just seemed like it to me.

I think it was. However, with so many rumors out there you never know what's true or not. I read the review in Asian Cult Cinema by Ric Meyers. He says that it was. He compared casting Wang Yu in the film to having Rob Schneider play the Transporter instead of Statham.

XD Maybe Rob could have done something to help TRANSPORTER 3 out a little? Actually, with the amount of ridiculous editing they used, I'm sure Corey Yuen could have almost made Rob look as good as Statham in those fights!

Here's the very rare Korean poster for 'The Man from Hong Kong'.....featuring Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris! -

The Man From Hong Kong was a project developed with Bruce Lee and George Lazenby in mind, He was going to play the role given to Jimmy Wang Yu. Strange that they should use the Bruce Lee/Chuck Norris picture on the films poster. The artist has put Jimmy Wang Yu's face onto Lees body. You expect this kind of thing on a Bruce Lee exploitation movie poster.

Regarding the last image, something thats always bothered me is that I'm pretty sure Wang Yu was holding the Bo Staff wrong in that fight scene, when I first watched the film it always looked like to me he'd just picked the weapon up for the first time and didnt know how to use it properly haha
