These are the ones I know' date=' not saying this is complete...[/quote']

Thanks for the info. It looks like Fusian changed the title for The Young Avengeress (1969) to The Young Avengers.

I know there's also Axing of the Coffin (1969) for Crash Cinema.

I had also read in this thread that Fusion was going to put out the following:

  • Thirteen Worms
  • The Last Days of Hsin Yang
  • Terrible Killer
  • Wandering Knight
  • Scholar Swordsman
  • Seven Darts
  • Duel In the Planes
  • Begging Swordsman
  • Jade Faced Cat
  • Man, Ghost, Fox
  • Ace of Swordsman
  • Sword Renounced

But only ended up putting out Thirteen Worms and The Last Days of Hsin Yang.

Also, apparently Lady 9 Flower is actually the second part to the story started in Absurd Brave as mentioned in this thread.

This site had some cool info about the origin of the releases in general:

"When it comes to legendarily silly re-titles, Crash Cinema actually beat Dimension Entertainment for the title of “best ever.” This 1969 supernatural melodrama (Axing of the Coffin), the first film of director Fu Ching-Wa, found its way onto DVD through some rather fortuitous circumstances. Some guy, recently returned from a trip to Taiwan with a bunch of film reels, posted on what was then the “kung fu fandom” message boards, wanting to know what he should do to sell his newly acquired film legacy. Somebody wanted to know what he had, and he posted an impressive list of titles, all obscure, with some, like Pan Lei’s The Sword, thought to be lost in their original format... I’m guessing that the movie I just finished watching was on that list under the title Chuang Tzu Tests his Wife."

It seems these were some of the other prints that Crash Cinema got from those reels from this post:

"...did someone saved the list of prints they got?

as i remember there were some interesting other titles on it:

  • The Scholar Swordsman
  • Terrible Killer
  • Mu Lian Saves Mother (aka A Rescue From Hades)
  • The Magic Sword
  • A Killer In White Clothing

etc etc etc"

In this thread they mention the reels but don't have a list...

Ahhh!!! I found this post where user NYC Films talks about selling over one hundred 35mm prints:

"Over 100 Classic Martial Arts 35mm film prints for sale!

Many films have never been released in the US

King of Kings, Dragon Inn (King Hu 1967!), The Sword (Jimmy Wang Yu), Mars Villa, and dozens and dozens of others.

This collection has been stored in a climate controlled environment for the last 5 years

Many films have been cleaned and re-reeled.

Complete list and price available upon request. PM or nycfilms17@gmail.com"

and:

"Hey guys I think I answered everyone who has contacted me. I emailed the list to everyone who asked for it. I am primarily interested in selling the entire collection rather than just parse off Dragon Inn, The Sword and titles of that ilk. My thinking is that I may put together 10 film pre packs and offer them that way.I am in negotiation with a couple of people from this forum and I want to exhaust those discussions before I move forward.

Here are the basics:

This is in fact the 35mm collection from Crash Cinema (Fusian was a licensed label of Crash). Most of the films were acquired in one lot about 5 years ago. The collection has been archived ever since and when I say archived I literally mean that - Most of the films have been cleaned and re-reeled and warehoused at a climate controlled telecine transfer house. That's not to say that when I got the collection some of the films were in fair shape but they have been well maintained ever since.

There is an addtional group of 15 or so more "modern" (mid 70's) films as well.

I realize that a 120 film collection might be a little much to grab up at once but logistics dictate that I sell the entire collection. Breaking them up into smaller digestible groups might be the best solution but I would still need to sell them over a concentrated period of time. I am looking to get about $500 per film which is siginificantly less than my investment in them. Of course I would entertain offers from a single purchaser and conversely I would ask more for just a single film at a time.

Not sure if that answered all the questions but I will try to stay on top of the conversation here and keep you guys updated."

I don't think Monkey Wars was released.

I believe you're right Morgoth. This thread says Crash Cinema never did a transfer for this film, thus a DVD was never made.

EDIT: In fact, in this thread gsk replied to "Does any body know why Crash is won't release it [Monkey War]?" with

"Because I won't give them the print. I have major problems with them as they led me on about a deal. I did a major amount of work and they never came through with what they promised me. I'm 100% done with them."

I don't think Monkey Wars was released.

There's also 10 Brothers of Shaolin (1979) in the Red Mantis Collection.

Thanks for the corrections / additions.

I also added Young Hero of Shaolin (1984) to the Jade Temple Collection and some box sets thanks to Gaijin84:

Old Skool Killaz Vol. 3: White Tiger Collection 82

Old Skool Killaz Vol. 4: Red Mantis Collection 83

And Fast Sword (1978) is part of the Right to Fight - Venom Mob Films series.

This is the cover I was going by for Fast Sword. It doesn't mention Right to Fight or Venom Mob on the packaging in the usual places. Was this an early cover design? Do you have one that shows it was on the Venom Mob label

It makes sense because the UPC code puts it with the other right to fight / venom mob films following up the red mantis collection:

10 Brothers of Shaolin (669657669024)

Shaolin Revenger (669657669123)

Fast Sword (669657669222)

Fatal Needles (669657669321)

Dreaming Fist, Slender Hands (669657669420)

Duel With the Devils (669657669529)

I also added... Old Skool Killaz Vol. 4: Red Mantis Collection

...Fast Sword.... doesn't mention Right to Fight or Venom Mob on the packaging in the usual places.

It makes sense because the UPC code puts it with the other right to fight / venom mob films...

Again, thanks a ton for all the info, as it's really made things easier for me as I'm seeking out films. It's much appreciated.

I just assumed Fast Sword was included in the "Right To Fight - Venom Mob Films" grouping because I had looked high and low for the Old Skool Killaz: Silver Sword Collection and found that it had been cancelled and thus never released. I did, however, find out that the four films that would have made up the box set included Fast Sword. But I agree with you -- after looking at the DVD cover I wouldn't have initially thought it to be a part of that grouping either.

The Old Skool Killaz: Red Mantis Collection was unfortunately cancelled and never released either.

Not sure it's been mentioned, but I'm pretty disappointed that Secret of the Sword: The Betrayal from Fusian was cancelled since it seemed that is was initially supposed to be released in August of 2007 (which coincided with a couple of their other releases) until it was eventually pushed to June 24, 2008 before being cancelled.

Small insert found in some Fusian dvds.

Duel With the Devil and Eight Immortals were cool but I didn't like Fight for the Agreement. The others I've seen (Whirlwind Knight, Absurd Brave, Famous Swordsman, Bloody Mask and Young Avengers) were ok.
