I wanted to get everyones opinions about the movie. Its suppose to be a pre TOS movie? Starring the original members of the enterprise. They've announced that Simon Pegg will be playing scotty, he got the part over James Doohans son who auditioned. I like simon pegg, but i just think they could have made a better choice. Granted, scotty was always a comic relief type of character, Simon Pegg isn't a completely bad choice. The asian guy from Harold and Kumar go to White Castle is playing Sulu... wtf. Is this supposed to be a comedy? I feel that there are a dozen actors that fans would have liked to see play the part instead of that guy (can't remember his name, can't be bothered to look it up). It seems that as time goes on, movie companies (and many other entities) loose creativity and focus on profits. Star Trek 9, or Star Trek Zero... is that the best title they could come up with? Is the set going to be designed like a Mac desktop with glossy effects and rounded squares? Will they have ipods and watch mtv? Who knows. I think i'll wait for it to come out on dvd. I think the casting choices are good, but I'll reserve judgement until I see see what early screenings indicate and watch the actual movie. Member Sifu Posted May 6, 2008 Member Share Posted May 6, 2008 I'm a huge Trekkie, went to Star Trek: Nemesis dressed and "eared" as a Vulcan. Too bad it was kind of...........................eh. Loved his direction with Mission Impossible III! He'll do a good job IMO. Can't wait to see this, every 10 years we get a Star Trek success; 1986 - Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home 1996 - Star Trek: First Contact 2006 - No Trek at all because of the demise of Enterprise. 2009 - ? Were overdue for a hit! =============================================== EDIT: Star Trek: First Contact might be one of the greatest Sci-Fi films of all time. Got me hooked. I've never been able to go to a convention, but next year i plan on going to the big one in Vegas. Any tips? What are they like?
