This is one creepy ass and disturbing movie. Based on a true story, Simon Yam plays a disturbed cab driver who starts picking up women in his cab and then murders them. That's not the worst part though as he then takes them home and starts cutting them up with power saws and surgeon scapels as blood and parts start flying every where, including the fish tank! Just when you think you've been grossed out enough Yam kills a youngschool girl and starts getting it on with her dead body! Danny Lee(who also directed) plays his usual cop/detective role as the lead cop who along with other officers lead the interogation on Yam and discover his gruesomes deeds and the tapes he made of the gruesome acts. This film definately earns it's catagory 3 rating and is not for the faint of heart or the easily disturbed. I don't usually like this kind of film and probably will not want to watch it again but have to say it kept me intrigued the whole time. I've heard that the film The Untold Story(which is also based on a true story) was similar and am thinking about checking it out.

I think UNTOLD STORY is far more brutal than DR. LAMB which, itself is a good movie. But the one to beat for sheer insanity is EBOLA SYNDROME. The recent US DVD has all the cut gore footage as a special feature. Not sure why they didn't just reinstate it into the film. Even without the footage, that movie is so OTT, Anthony Wong is absolutely insane in this. Speaking of insane, Simon Yam also did another horror flick called INSANITY where he stalked a woman by herself in her home, if I'm not mistaken. RUN AND KILL was really nasty, too.

Thanks for the info venom, I definately want to see The Untold Story and Ebola Syndrome next. These type of movies are new to me and find them interesting since I'm so use to watching just the straight Asian action films.:)

I thought the part with the investigators tossing around the breast was funny in DR. LAMB in a morbid sort of way. I remember reading that this movie, too was cut. Not sure though.

I hated Dr Lamb. Check out Run and Kill if you want to see a better movie from this director.

I'll keep that title in mind to see as well Morgoth, thanks. I've also heard that Billy Tang directed Red to Kill which supposed to be good so I'll probably track that down as well. I know Tang co-directed Dr. Lamb with Danny Lee.

Some really disturbing stuff in Run and Kill. Kinda scary. And it's not ruined by cheesiness like having Simon Yam howling at the moon. God I hated Simon Yam in Dr. Lamb, but he's much better in Run and Kill.

Red To Kill is one of the sickest films you'll ever see. I think it's really smart (don't know what that says about me). Also, well worth checking out are Underground Banker and Devil's Woman.

Hmmm, you guys got me interested in these films, I never heard of them, I'll have to check my local video store and see if any of these are there, would these be under Asian Horror?

Tosh I would assume they would be found under either Asian Horror or Asian Thriller. Most of these are what they call Catagory III films roughly equal to an NC-17 rating in the US due to their graphic nature.

Thanks for you recommendations Biozombie, looks like I'll have quite a few titles in this type of genre to watch.

If you're heading down the CATIII route you might also want to add Love To Kill, Daughter of Darkness and There Is A Secret In My Soup to your list...All of them pretty disturbing.

Have to admit, I do like a bit of CATIII cinema :)

Dr. Lamb is a repellent movie in every sense of the word. From the use of actual child pornography... to the sick notion that cops tossing around a severed breast is funny. This trash is based on a true story (from the 80s, I think) so imagine how offensive it is for family members of the victims to see them treated as a joke (after mutilation and necrophilia, of course).

Run and Kill and Red to Kill are very strong, but definately better films.

So are you saying the people that enjoyed this movie are sick or heartless? Is it clear to the movie watcher that this movie is based on a true story?

btw, never seen this movie. Not too big in the gore-ish films. But i dont mind seeing somebody stabbed by a sword!

Don't remember any child pornography in this. But then I only saw it once and thought UNTOLD STORY was a better movie but it, too, has comical moments throughout. I did say it was funny in a morbid sort of way. I would imagine the names were changed in the film as well as some of the incidents. Irregardless of the subject matter, I find it difficult to classify these as "good" movies especially something like RED TO KILL which features rape of mentally handicapped young girls as well as suicide of a mother and her child and self bodily mutilation of said mentally handicapped female. I find that far more disgusting than a scene of policemen tossing a severed breast around in a scene meant to lighten the tone for a film that was made in HK and generally made for a HK audience who see and do things differently than we do.

And wasn't DR. LAMB cut as well? I seem to remember the film is missing a bit of footage.

I have know idea if my version is cut, it's the Winson version and it runs 90 minutes. I don't remember any child porn in it either and I just watched it for the first time the other night. If there is any in it I'm glad I didn't notice it because that is totally disgusting, I'd think that would be against the law to show in a movie. Even though this film is based on a true story I know what I'm seeing on screen is fake so it doesn't bother me to bad to watch it even though the subject matter is disgusting. It's like you know what your seeing on screen is brutal and graphic but you can't turn away because of the shock factor.

Could be, I saw over at hkflix that they also have a US version but I thought the running time was the same. Don't know if there are other versions available.

Thanks fabhui, I'll put those titles on my list to see as well. These movies are definately something different than the usual fare for sure.

Could someone please tell me what there is to like about disturbingly gory flicks? I was having this discussion with a friend and fellow movie appreciater, and we just couldn't find any arguments for watching these kinds of movies. Anyone? Please don't say "art". :P
