Member AlbertV Posted March 12, 2008 Member Share Posted March 12, 2008 (edited) KANE KOSUGIBirth Name: Kane Takeshi KosugiA.K.A.: Kein Kosugi, Kosugi Kane TakeshiBorn: October 11, 1974; Los Angeles, CaliforniaOfficial Website: http://www.kanekosugi.com BIOGRAPHYKane Kosugi is one of the top second generation stars to hit the screens today. He is the oldest son of 1980's action star Sho Kosugi and Shook Kosugi. Kane is half-Japanese and half-Chinese, but since he was born in Los Angeles, he considers himself one third American as well. At the age of 18 months, Kane's father trained him in martial arts. From 1977 until 1981, young Kane had won 176 trophies in martial arts competitions. It was not long before he would follow in his father's footsteps and become an actor himself. In 1983, Kane made his film debut as Kane Ozaki in Revenge of the Ninja. Kane got to show his skills in martial arts in some of the film's fight scenes, choreographed by his father. He would join his father for three more Hollywood films, Pray for Death, 9 Deaths of the Ninja, and Black Eagle. In 1992, Kane and his father co-starred in the historical film Journey of Honor and soon after, Kane and his father went to Japan to continue their careers in film. Sho directed a V-Cinema film starring Kane called The Fighting King. The sequel was shot back-to-back with the original. In 1994, Kane was cast as Jiraiya in the television series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, which would later be edited as Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers for America in which American actors replaced the Japanese cast. However, a highlight of the original series is an on-screen battle between Kane and his father, who appears as a villain. Kane continued success as an actor, doing films like Zero Woman 2 and Cat's Eye, while appearing in television and commercials. Kane and his brother Shane appeared together as competitors on the show Sasuke, which is seen today as Ninja Warrior, an obstacle course filled adventure, In 1997, Kane struck up a friendship with Sammy Hung, the son of Hong Kong action star Sammo Hung. Sammy's godfather was none other than Jackie Chan. Kane met Jackie and learning of his skills, Jackie cast Kane in a small role as a commando in Who Am I? Kane worked mainly on television afterwards, but in 2002, the breakthrough came through. Muscle Heat, an action film set in 2009, was made specifically for Kane. Jackie Chan lent his support out by sending two members of his stunt team, Sam Wong and Chan Man-Ching, along with veteran stunt team member Anthony Carpio, to choreograph Muscle Heat's fight scenes. Another JC Stunt Team alumnus, Ken Low, appears as Muscle Dome champion Lee. The film was a hit in Japan and Kane became a bonafide action star on his own this time. Producers all over heard of Kane's performance in the film and in 2005, after 15 years, Kane began to shoot what would be his return to Hollywood. Kane was cast as Ryu Hayabusa in the live action adaptation of the video game DOA: Dead or Alive. Director Corey Yuen was impressed with Kane's martial arts skills that the two re-team for War, an action thriller starring Jet Li and Jason Statham. Kane plays a member of the Yakuza in the film. In his near 25 years as an actor, Kane has gone from following in the shadows of his famous ninja film dad to breaking out on his own as a star in Japan. With his latest two films, Kane may be headed back with success in Hollywood. Only time will surely tell. Kane made waves with his role of Nakamura in Ninja: Shadow of a Tear. Gotta love his fight against Scott Adkins. Just a year later, he played the role of Kazuya Mishima in the prequel Tekken 2: Kazuya's Revenge. Kane will appear in Takashi Miike's Terra Formers as well as supposedly making Maxx for director Wych Kaos, who directed Tekken 2. Member AlbertV Posted April 19, 2017 Author Member Share Posted April 19, 2017 He recently wrapped up another martial arts film, where it looks like he's a villain. Check out how he looks in it...from his official Instagram. Does anyone know what movie this is?
Member ShaOW!linDude Posted April 20, 2017 Member Share Posted April 20, 2017 Interesting. I'm curious to know what that movie is. Did anything ever come of the movie Maxx? You mentioned it back November 2015, @AlbertV. I was looking at his IMDb page and there's mention of a Japanese film title Za kakuto oh aka The Fighting King. It was made in 1993, which would put him around 19 yrs old at the time, and Simon Rhee and Yasuaki Kurata are mentioned as being in the cast. Anyone know anything about this?

I've been checking Kane's website but not much news on MAXX (last I heard Jason Patric was co-starring in it and it looks to be in post-production hell at the moment...last update came from Kane's blog on August 2016 and mentions a 2017 release). I saw some bits of The Fighting King. His father directed the films and Simon Rhee, Scott Harmon (Tang Soo Do black belt under Tom Bloom and former kickboxer), and Michael Horton (who played Gemini in the original American Gladiators) were in the first film. Here are the trailers for the two films: Edited April 24, 2017 by AlbertV

Member AlbertV Posted September 6, 2017 Author Member Share Posted September 6, 2017 I found out the name of the movie that Kane plays the masked assassin with the claws from his recent photos. It is called Heaven Inspector. He posted it on his revamped official website. "His most recent role is that of a relentless assassin with severe facial deformity in “Heaven Inspector,” a Chinese production which will be released in the summer of 2017."
