TONY LEUNG SIU-HUNG

Also Known As: Hsiung Kuang, Alex Leung Siu-Hung, Antony Leung

Following in his older brother's footsteps, Tony Leung Siu-Hung is without a doubt one of the top action choreographers in Hong Kong today and is in fact, the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Stuntman Association. The road from stuntman to this title was a long road.

Tony Leung Siu-Hung is the younger brother of kung fu superstar Bruce Leung Siu-Lung. At an early age, Tony studied various martial arts from his older brother, including Karate, Wing Chun Kung Fu, and Tae Kwon Do. Tony appeared in small roles and worked as an assistant on some of his brother's early films, such as Hong Kong Superman and Little Godfather of Hong Kong.

Tony appeared in many of the kung fu films of the 1970's and in two particular films, he was the lead role. One was 1977's The 36 Crazy Fists, which was choreographed by Jackie Chan. The second was Five Superfighters for the Shaw Brothers where along with Austin Wai and Wu Chun-Yuan, Tony kicks his way against villain Kuan Feng. In fact, thanks to big brother's training, Tony is an impeccable superkicker and is in fact, just about as excellent as his older brother. Tony would also join another Tony, Ching Siu-Tung, working as co-choreographers on films like The Master Strikes and Monkey Kung Fu.

As the kung fu film era waned down and the new wave came, Tony took it to stride and decided to take a break from acting to concentrate on choreographing action sequences. Some of his best work as choreographer can be seen in Magic Crystal and Angel. Not only is Tony great when it comes to martial arts, but he can choreograph gunfights really well, as seen in Coolie Killer and In the Line of Duty 3.

In 1989, Tony began to work with Ng See-Yuen once again and was the choreographer for Ng's American crossover films. Tony's work can be seen in No Retreat, No Surrender 3, King of the Kickboxers, as well as directing the last of Seasonal Films' American crossovers, Superfights in 1995 and Bloodmoon in 1997. Tony is less active in the industry, yet he did work on some direct-to-DVD horror films as action director, Seven Mummies and Shadow: Dead Riot, the latter directed by Derek Wan, cinematographer of both Superfights and Bloodmoon.

In addition to working in films, Tony is the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Stuntman Association and is the action choreographer of a Turkish TV series, CÖT (Cok Özel Tim). A 30+ year road has led Tony Leung Siu-Hung to become of the most respected action choreographers and martial artists to come out of Hong Kong.
