This film flopped/bombed in India but hang on it is quite good so why did it fail? There could be a 100 reasons for this.Competition in India is ferocious so you have to time your release date exceptionally well.If you are unlucky to clash with any release of the 3 Khans (Amir Khan,Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan - they have dedicated die hard fans of all ages, gender, caste and creed) Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar, you are toast. Also ingenious publicity schemes are quite necessary for pushing movies in Indian today to avoid being side tracked.

Emraan Hashmi the star of Awarapan is quite a good actor but not elite however he is brilliant in this film and it is a shame he couldn't get the audience.Action is superb and everything else about the film is fantastic in my opinion but the Indian audience just couldn't relate to the bleakness of this movie.Films should have mass general appeal socially for them to be embraced by the complicated Indian society so if you head for dark territory based faithfully on an alien movie and culture you are asking for trouble.

Indian film-makers are getting braver by the second now in trying to break traditions. They even remade Oldboy as Zinda starring top star Sanjay Dutt but Oldboy had so many taboo issues that you know will never jell in India anyway hats of to the film-makers.

That said from an outsider's point of view Awarapan is fabulous watch it if you can.
