Member udar55 Posted March 19, 2009 Member Share Posted March 19, 2009 Wow, this movie is really, really bad. I think the blame lies with director Olivier Megaton who seems to not know how to shoot or edit a fight scene to save his life. Seriously, why hire Corey Yuen to do your fight scenes if you are going to cut ever half second? Here is the first fight scene in the film to showcase how bad they are: Just a complete epileptic mess. The sad part is that nearly 60% of the movie is edited like this. Honestly, do we need three flash cuts when you are just showing a picture on a passport? Member dionbrother Posted March 21, 2009 Member Share Posted March 21, 2009 Agreed. Worst of the three. Thanks to Megaton for killing a fun series.
Member doug maverick Posted March 21, 2009 Member Share Posted March 21, 2009 actually im going to have to disagree with you guys about that. while yes the action is eh... thats not megatons fault corey yuen actually cut the action scenes, he is the producer and second unit director, you think he doesnt have the pull to cut his own action? this film was ten times better then the garbage that was transporter 2 which was a blatant rip off of man on fire. i also liked both the acting and the story on this film. althought the dialogue could've used some tweaking. Member mark187 Posted March 21, 2009 Member Share Posted March 21, 2009 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1129442/fullcredits#cast according to imdb at least, he is only the martial arts choreographer for part 3. he was 2nd unit director on part 2, and director of part 1, and there is a noticeable difference in the editing of those two, compared to part 3. my assumption is he didn't do anything else on part 3 other than choreograph the fights, and someone else edited them terribly, just like in War. Member blue_skies Posted March 25, 2009 Member Share Posted March 25, 2009 This film is really very poor and by far the worst of the trilogy. Awful fight action, even worse car chases and overall generally very weak action for a film like this it doesn't leave much. The only positive was it was better than the last bond film Quantum of solace.
Member massa_yoda Posted March 25, 2009 Member Share Posted March 25, 2009 I hope you mean the action was better than in QoS and not the MOVIE was better than QoS...
Member emacs Posted March 29, 2009 Member Share Posted March 29, 2009 i saw the film recently and, overall, i wasn't too impressed. i was surprised the martial scenes involved so many cuts.
Member blue_skies Posted March 29, 2009 Member Share Posted March 29, 2009 I hope you mean the action was better than in QoS and not the MOVIE was better than QoS... QoS was dire so yeah it better all round. QoS was the worst Bond for quite a few years imho.
Member massa_yoda Posted March 30, 2009 Member Share Posted March 30, 2009 I don't understand why everyone hates QoS, usually for the same reason they LOVE Casino Royale: it's different. Sure the action is subpar, but geez i thought it was great. Transporter 3 is on my netflix list, so i'll soon see if what you say is true, but i doubt it iMho. Member MLee Posted November 21, 2009 Member Share Posted November 21, 2009 Not bad to watch as a movie. I agree the quick cuts really hurt the fight scenes cos there was some decent choreography but it was impossible to see! Disappointed that there wasn't much of an endfight. Member AlbertV Posted November 23, 2009 Author Member Share Posted November 23, 2009 I didn't care too much for this one. As much as I like Jason Statham kicking butt, the fight scenes were badly edited and all this talk from the girl talking about food was just annoying. Administrator KUNG FU BOB Posted November 24, 2009 Administrator Share Posted November 24, 2009 I felt like 80% of the film was a much too close closeup of that girl's face. That one stray freckle she has that jumped ship and made it's home on her upper lip is burned in my memory forever. In the theater the action was cut so fast as to be unwatchable. But even when I watched it in slow-motion on the DVD, it was still cut too fast to be enjoyable! Shame, as in slow speed you can see from the tattered remnants, that Corey had created, and the actors/stunt people had performed, some really cool choreography.
