Movies to be excited about in 2008!

I'm just starting a list here and I'm starting with:

Iron Man - Robert Downey, Jr. in it, it'll be watchable. And after watching the trailers, I'm excited!

Dark Knight - Well, with Heath passing away so recently, I know it's hard to get upbeat about this one but it will be an instant classic as Nolan's previous effort Batman Begins was already in my top 3 hero movies of all time.

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army - Already have gushed about GDT but needless to say, the man can do fantasy/horror like no other. He has a deft touch and he has upped his game phenomenally with Pans Labryinth. Ron Perlman is awesome, and Mignola's comic is the best sci-fi/horror pulp put to ink I've seen. I can almost guarantee that this one will be way better than Hellboy.

That's just a start.....

Well, for my part there's:

Indiana Jones... : Do I need to say more?

Doomsday: Mad Max/Escape from New York "inspired" movie from the director of Dog Soldiers and the Descent.

The Happening: New M. Night Shyamalan movie. Big fan of his so I'll definately check this one out, even if he is on a bad streak...

The Signal: I know it played on festivals circuit last year, but it was slated for a 2008 release over here, it suddenly disapeared from upcoming movies releases though... Direct to DVD?

Anyway, it looks very promising. It's helmed by three directors, who each directed there own segement (not a cadavre exquis though), and it's about a mysterious signal coming from TVs and radios that transform people into killing psycopath...

Quantum of Solace- New James Bond flick out in the fall and I really liked Casino Royale w/ Daniel Craig. This should be good as well.

Pineapple Express- Seth Rogen and James Franco in this stoner/action comedy. I likes the sounds of it!

Possible excitement over the redo of the Hulk but very suspicious and concerend over the lack of a trailer right now.

Well, with Edward Norton serving as both star and writer of The Incredible Hulk, I'm actually getting goosebumps.

What're you talkin about! One movie isn't a bad streak, only idiots disliked The Village. In addition to the other biggies there's:

The Forbidden Kingdom

X-Files 2

CJ7, to be released widely in the U.S.!

Kung Fu Panda, doesn't look great, but Jackie's in it.

Who's the idiot, the one who dislikes The Village or the one waiting in anticipation Kung Fu Panda...

I didn't totaly dislike The Village, it has a nice message about the fear of the others and the use of this same fear to cause people to withdraw onto one self, and in extension a society to do the same. It's interesting to make the parallel with american society. But I just think that his formula of a punchy ending didn't quite work this time. Lady in the water I haven't seen yet.

What I meant is that he has been on a critical and commercial bad streak. So before you go on calling people idiots be sure you know what you're talking about...

Because a film running on a 60 million dollar budget that grossed 256 million internationally isn't a success right? But of course I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Even though it made 250 millions, it wasn't as much a big success as his other movies (for exemple, Signs made that much only in the US), and it doesn't mean it was liked by fans. Just look around and you'll see. Alright, I'll tone it done, he has been in a somewhat a little bit less succesful semi-streak.

But anyway, I still think it was uncalled for to come out of the blue and call names absolutely for nothing, so it would be nice to take it back.

To get back to the excitement part of the thread....

Wall-E (Pixar)- It's going to be good, you know it!

Mongol (Sergei Bodrov)- Wow, this looks fantastic. I love epics, I love historic pieces, and I love me some Genghis Khan!!

Hancock (Peter Berg)- Will Smith has slowly become better and better. This could be a pretty funny rip on the superhero genre.

Harold and Kumar Escape From Guatanamo Bay (John Hurwitz)- The last one was funny. I have a soft spot for stoner comedies, ok?

Surfwise (Doug Pray)- Documentary about the Paskowitz family (nine kids) who drop out of society and live in basically communal style, w/ surfing, health, praying, and good ole' individualism as their education. Should be interesting, the Paskowitz's run a popular surf camp and are pretty well known surfers.

Hopefully a more intelligent rip than the stuff the Scary Movie bastards recently spewed out. I swear they are deliberately trying to ruin cinema.

As mentioned by others, I am also very excited about Ironman, Hulk, Hellboy 2 and The Dark Knight.

But who's with me on Sex and the City - The Movie?! Instant goosebumps.
