I wish I had a opinion to give myself. I have this one on my list with Blockbuster.com. I will be watching it fairly soon.

I though this film was good, if you like Secret Rivals you'll definatley like this one. Although i think this one is better because Yip Fei Yang is a better lead than Don Wong or Tino Wong. The fights are great, also good acrobatics from Yuen Biao, Corey Yuen and Chin Yuet Sang.

I think it's well written but slackly paced, and I think Yip is far inferior to Don Wang. Not bad, worth a look. Get the UK DVD for widescreen restored print!

It's alright. I think of it as similar to movies like Invincible Armour and the Secret Rivals flicks made around the same time. Did you check youtube to see if there are clips of the fight scenes?

Yeah, I was looking at a few clips last night. I actually have Invincible Armour, which I thought was decent. Watching the clip of Snuff Bottle, I felt like I wasn't really seeing typical Yuen Woo Ping choreography. That's why I'm not about buying it yet.

It's great for its era and one of John Liu's better flics. Don Wong Tao and Tino Wong are both sorely missed. I truly dislike that co-star, he's a poor man's Meng Fei! I believe he's the lead star of Instant Kung Fu Man (John Liu was the co-star and Wang Jang Lee was the main villian) which was decent, but since he was the main star, it was alright, at best. Although the Fight scenes were better in Instant Kung Fu Man.

John Liu may not be liked by many but there is no doubt he made some great movies, Snuff Bottle is one I rate highly, I'd put it above stuff like Secret Rivals, the whole story just works for me.

yea they had a very long fight but it got cut because the director decided that he was a lesser villian and it shouldn't be so hard for john liu to beat him

I like John Liu. Why is he disliked by so many people? He is one of the top superkickers. I'm not saying he's anywhere near Hwang Jang Lee, but I think he's right up there with Dorian Tan.

bullenshit, most who knows john(s movies) like him. he really looks good in almost all his movie roles :)

there are alwasy other sheep don't like him, could be up to that he mostly only kicks with his right leg what looks in some scenes hardheaded or shows not best technics but that isn't absolute bad he can kick with his right leg better than the most other top kickers

Beside the fact I hate his face, I find his action sequences to be very repetitive with him displaying a lot of the same moves over and over.

You cant deny that John Liu repeats his kicking routines in all his movies, but so what? It still looks good. In his fights with Hwang he moves up a few notches, especially in Snuff Bottle. The action is consistent and exciting and explodes at the end. Anyone know if that fight between Liu and Roy Horan is on youtube?

Snuff Bottle is a very good classic KF flick. Good fights throughout the whole film. I would reccomend a purchase. I like John Liu, but I agree that he rarely shows much variety in his fighting. Very one dimensional, but its a good dimension.;)

Maybe some people stopped liking John Liu after he did Ninja in the Claws of the CIA, where he tried to do the softcore porn with the kung fu fights..who knows??? Personally, I think John Liu was one of the best kickers of that era. I like his axe kick in particular, like in Fighting Ace where he kills an attacker who tried to sneak attack from behind and John does the axe kick and catches his foot right on the guy's throat.
