Member iron flag Posted January 12, 2008 Member Share Posted January 12, 2008 My girlfriend likes scary movies. Nothing with too much plot or thinking involved, just stuff jumping out at you and so on. I'd like get her a couple of DVDs, I'm thinking Friday the 13th or something similiar. She already has Halloween part 1. Any ideas?
Member fabhui Posted January 12, 2008 Member Share Posted January 12, 2008 For something along the lines of Friday 13th you might want to check out The Burning. The US MGM disc is the one to go for, great print, fully uncut and really cheap too!

Member daisho2004 Posted January 12, 2008 Member Share Posted January 12, 2008 I'll tell you you can't go wrong with the whole 80's genre of Horror flicks, like "Terror Train", "Mothers Day" etc. those were some great Horror movies that really scared you, unlike the cut-up flicks that are out now. Member CrazyFrog Posted January 12, 2008 Member Share Posted January 12, 2008 The Grudge (I suppose the American remake, not Ju-on becuase it would be subtitled and harder to follow); The Others. Suspiria? One of the scariest and most unfathomable movies I have ever seen. Won't make much sense, so no thinking involved. Totally psychedelic but in a bad way. But friggin scary. Even the score by Italian prog rock band Goblin will scare the crap out of ya!

Member NoNiceTime Posted January 15, 2008 Member Share Posted January 15, 2008 The Thing is a great movie all around(also by J Carpanter who made halloween). Pet Semetary is classic. The step sister still creeps me Hellraiser 1 & 2. Pinhead is the ultimate horror 'bad guy' Re-animator is great but I found it more funny than scary. Candyman is another one that I used to like. Havent seen it in a while though, wonder if I would still like it
Member CrazyFrog Posted January 15, 2008 Member Share Posted January 15, 2008 No Nice Time-The Thing is a great movie all around(also by J Carpanter who made halloween). I'll definitely agree with that- it's one of the best horror movies ever made. It works on a lot of levels and those levels aren't very nice places to be!
