Member The Toad Posted January 7, 2008 Member Share Posted January 7, 2008 I've been watching alot of hammer films these days aside from shawbrothers flicks. I love some of the old ones like the horror of dracula and the curse of frankenstein but recently i picked up a few others that i enjoy as well. Member Chinatown Kid Posted January 7, 2008 Member Share Posted January 7, 2008 Yes I like Hammer films as well and have a few of the box sets. Some of my favorites are Curse of the Werewolf, The Brides of Dracula, Dracula has Risen from the Grave, and The Evil of Frankenstein. One I remember seeing on tv as a kid and really liking was Vampire Circus, I want to track that film down on DVD if it's available.
Member tdb Posted January 7, 2008 Member Share Posted January 7, 2008 One I remember seeing on tv as a kid and really liking was Vampire Circus, I want to track that film down on DVD if it's available. VAMPIRE CIRCUS was part of a box set from Carlton (R2 only), several years ago. That set also contained COUNTESS DRACULA (available with THE VAMPIRE LOVERS under the MidNite Movies label (R1). It's out of print, but can still be had) and TWINS OF EVIL. If you can put up with the lousy exchange rate, you can get a used disc of VAMPIRE CIRCUS or the box set. TWINS OF EVIL appears to be in print (a Network disc). Don't know about the quality but there is an R4 box that contains VAMPIRE CIRCUS, TWINS OF EVIL and HANDS OF THE RIPPER. None of those are available R1. It looks like ezydvd and dvdorchard still have copies. Shipping's usually on the pricey side, but they'd be new and probably still cheaper than going R2. As for Hammer's I'm fond of, I like to re-visit QUATERMASS AND THE PIT and THE DEVIL RIDES OUT about once a year.
