Pffh don't be so humble, you've put a lot of time and effort into this and I appreciate your generosity.

7MA= Seven Man Army. Hmm were you the guy who traded a copy with Bobby Samuels? I actually gave let me think maybe 3 or 4 people a copy that day. I'm now quite interested how did you get it? Just wondering. Are you from Philly or were you just visiting?

Lol you figured me out. And yeah I'm from here.

I always wondered who added comments to the English dubbs like when someone says, "...but still...", or added "r's" to words, like, when someone says "lawr" in stead of law or stuff like that.:D

Cool. I remember it. Funny thing was the copy I got from Bobby was a blank DVD-R lol (an accident obviously), but yeah I remember you bartering with Bobby :)

Yu, I was wondering if you might have a text file with the orders the tracks occur? I just wanted to edit them in a linear fashion for when I load them on the IPOD. Some start with End, then two tracks and then Intro. Its not a big deal or anything, since upping these files is cool enough. I just love listening in a linear manner as it allows me to sort of re-experience the film.

The "but still..." has its origins in that seemingly every damn film someone is going a two syllable phrase (sounds like "bour gaw") in the Chinese versions!

Eh I have no idea. Your guess is as good as mine. The best advice I can give is to use "MP3Tag" and add numbers. [movie - track # - filename.filetype] I still have some misc movies to watch/rip so stay tuned sometime during the week I'll up IV. As for Bobby, his photobook was amazing. He had a pic with damn near everybody.

LOL no worries it happens a lot when using Megaupload. Its not that uncommon.

Thanks for the program its really nice. I was able to strip all the id titles and easily set it up so that the Movie was the Artist, the Track name was the track title and album etc.

Bobby was such a nice guy. He had a lot of cool stories to tell and was very positive about the guys he worked with, which made it all the more enjoyable.

I was thinking as a fun little thread game we can try and order the tracks as more people get it. By that I mean simple order it in the way the tracks are first heard (as many would repeat otherwise).

I'll post a track list so people can get started. I'll try my best with one to start us off with Five Shaolin Masters when I finish my Criminal Law reading for the night, but others should feel free to start out. When we're done with Vol 1 we can move on to Vol 2 and so on. I think it will be pretty fun :)

Thanks for all this stuff, and the nice higher bitrate on most of them - that 128k shit is for the birds, you know?

Now while we're on the subject, does ANYONE know where the music from Brave Archer comes from, especially the introspective orchestral stuff, also heard in Usurpers of Emperor's Power?

Boxer Rebellion is already in order. Have fun with the rest. More to come and I'm glad to share. I'm still finding stuff. And I also noticed that about Usurpers... there's a number of variations and that was the first time I heard that one in particular. Makes me think they were holding out.

I wish I knew. The Shaolin Temple tracks are straight rips. I'm curious to know what Shaw used before DeWolfe aside from Morricone and John Barry. Anyway now that all the tracks are up I can make some references to where I heard some of these.

Rebel Intruders - Intro... I heard this one time on a history channel doc about the green river killer. I was pissed that I couldn't find any helpful info about it.

Savage 5 - Intro... heard this one on a saturday afternoon on a local access art show. Once again, no useful info.

Martial Club - Danger March... this is in Michael Moore's "Sicko."

Men From the Monastery - Shaolin Rises From the Hills 4... I could've sworn I heard this on a Ford truck commerical a couple years ago. I was told it was Mussourgsky and if it is, I haven't found it.

Chinatown Kid - Hard Hitter... this was used in a Vonage commercial a couple months ago.

There have been MANY movies I have been seeking out but they never turn up anything or not much.

The Night Strangler and Night Stalker - supposedly used in 5 Venoms. Night Stalker has no noticable Shaw music. Strangler I can't find.

Night of Terror - funny that I heard cues from Daredevils while watching "The Bernie Mac Show" while on the show they were watching "Night of Terror."

Daimajin - (various) I was gonna buy the CD til I heard that it's a lackluster compilation of a number of Daimajin LPs. I don't know if I can settle for that might still get it though.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail - that soundtrack was joke... a bad one.

Shanghai 13 - liked this music alot and read somewhere it's from "MAN FROM UNCLE" I listened to like 4-5 different UNCLE cds and none of them matched up.

Witchfinder General - N/A

Body Stealers - N/A

Animals Are Beautiful People - N/A

Exorcist 2 - Didn't sound familiar.

You Only Live Twice - Didn't sound familiar.

Goldfinger - Didn't sound familiar.

Movie cues I did find...

Mad Max

Taxi Driver

Duck You Sucker

Cornbread Earl and Me

Once Upon a Time in the West

A Minute to Pray a Second to Die

In the Grip of the Spider

Svegliati E Uccide

On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Diamonds Are Forever

The Chase

Death Rides A Horse

Superfly

Dawn of the Dead original

Daimajin BGM snippets

King Kong

All of that aside my top 5 faves (out of these) are...

Shaolin Prince - 9th Prince

3 Evil Masters - 3 Evil's Revenge

Shaolin Avengers - Last Man Standing

Swordsman and the Enchantress - Bamboo Grove

Naval Commandos - The Izuma

What're yours?

There have been MANY movies I have been seeking out but they never turn up anything or not much.

The Night Strangler and Night Stalker - supposedly used in 5 Venoms. Night Stalker has no noticable Shaw music. Strangler I can't find.

A little excerpt from something I've been working on:

In Five Venoms, the Shaw Brothers again use the Dewolfe library to great effect. The title of the track used for the crypt walk during the main credit sequence is the song "Devastation." The song was composed by Robert Hermel in 1967 for Dewolfe's album 'Lunar Probe.' Hermel was one of the true innovators at Dewolfe (via the Paris Studio Group) of using odd sounds and time signatures coming from everyday instruments. In this case, primarily using the piano and it's individual strings....It was later used in the US film "The Night Strangler" where Carl Kolchak enters the catacombs of Seattle....

And something else:

The De Wolfe Music Library started by Meyer De Wolfe in 1909 was originally created to provide musical scores for silent movies. But the library quickly became very popular across all entertainmen mediums, and soon began working on production music for radio and television. In the '70's, while current library trends in the UK were to stick with composers and musicians in their later years, De Wolfe continued it's practice of employing younger, more inventive artists....

just a bit more:

The rival Sylvester Music Group started as an independent music library, but were quickly bought up by De Wolfe Music Library for it's rich collection of young composers and musicians. The Paris Studio Group led by composers Renaud and Hermel were among their best in house composers, with Hermal's greatest works being Freesound's 'Understood' and Musique Pour L'Image's (later Dewolfe) 'Rock Flowers.' These were musical innovators, who experamented with new studio techniques and electronic instruments to create new experences for the listener. In the '60s, Dewolfe concentrated more on soundscapes based on a theme, while in the '70s the complete album created by one composer was more common. The true Golden Age of De Wolfe concerning the Shaw Brothers was in this period of the late 1960's and the first half of the 1970's....

BTW, The Water Margin version of Salsbury Hill was a different, instrumental version that was never released commercially. I sent this version to Image to use as an extra. It runs over two minutes and doesn't have the vocals used in the band track everyone is used to.
