Member theportlykicker Posted January 7, 2008 Member Share Posted January 7, 2008 The film you're talking about is The King Swindler. *shudder* HORRIBLE film, but you're right, that drunken scene was pretty good. Oh, and my favourite drunken kung fu film has to be Drunken Master. A classic in every way!
Member The Dragon Posted January 7, 2008 Member Share Posted January 7, 2008 Drunken Monkey in a Tiger's Eye. Sam Seed, the Sifu, and Wong, his student, taking on the baddies in the teahouse... good stuff! The Best.
Member thundered mantis Posted January 7, 2008 Member Share Posted January 7, 2008 "King of Comic" a three min. brilliant drunken fight. It´s uploaded on youtube courtesy of rdenn (search "mad drunken"), who has also uoploaded a great drunken scene form by Chow Yun Fat in the series "Beggar So". Plus the boy of Thundering Mantis did some drunken boxing too
Member Alex Posted January 8, 2008 Member Share Posted January 8, 2008 Young Vagabond, which is about beggar so, is pretty meh overall but it does have some nice moments, especially the short sequence when Jason Piao Piao first shows some moves to Gordon Liu

Member ShaKwon Posted January 8, 2008 Member Share Posted January 8, 2008 I have to give a special shout to Konoha's Blue Beast, Rock Lee! His drunken style fight scene was sweet! IMO. Rock Lee is a character from the Naruto anime series. Both Lee & his teacher, Gai, have a remarkable resemblance to Bruce Lee. Both sport a Jeet Kune Do track suit. Although it's green, not yellow & black or solid black. Both sport a hair style similar to Bruce. When Gai is up against a very powerful enemy, he doesn't use genjutsu or ninjutsu, he ues the nunchuka! As he did against Kisami during the "Gaara kidnap arc." It is said that Lee shares Bruce's birthday. However, Lee is handicapped. Unlike his teacher, who chooses to use only taijutsu, Lee can't do genjutsu or ninjutsu. He can only use taijutsu, straight martial arts, no tricks. However, his taijutsu is 1st class & if he consumes wine, he is a natural drunken boxer! Not a hijacking attempt. I haven't watched a kung fu flick in quite awhile. To see one a my favorite kung fu styles in a Japanese cartoon was awesome! Regards, ShaKwon

Drunken Monkey In A Tiger's Eye is the original title of Drunken Master, GN... not to be confused with above title.
Member SimonMW Posted January 9, 2008 Member Share Posted January 9, 2008 I'm not a fan of monkey style. It was great for 70's kung fu comedies, but now it just looks silly on screen. I just wish LKL had done some other style for his big comeback. Drunken Monkey did have its moments though.
Member Iron_Leopard Posted December 16, 2015 Member Share Posted December 16, 2015 I love all three of Yuen Woo Ping's classic kung fu films "Drunken Master", "The Magnificent Butcher" and "Drunken Tai Chi".

Member Mr Sawuchi Posted January 3, 2016 Member Share Posted January 3, 2016 My favorites include: - Drunken Masters 1 & 2 (2 has got to be my favorite Jackie Chan movie)- Dance of the Drunken Mantis- World of Drunken Master- Shaolin Drunken Monk A couple movies that come to mind with great "Drunken Boxing Type" characters are Shaolin Wooden Men, Five Superfighters and Shaolin Temple Strikes Back.
Member Drunken Monk Posted January 5, 2016 Member Share Posted January 5, 2016 While I think "Drunken Master" is the best, I have a massive soft spot for "Dance of the Drunken Mantis".

I can't remember the name of it, and I really don't want to inflict the film on myself again to find out. Anyway, Sammo plays a father who is in debt and who needs to fight bare knuckle fights even though he is too old for it. His son is taken into care by a police woman. So anyway, there's a bar fight, the only fight worth watching in the film, where Sammo does drunken boxing. So it is worth seeing if only for that scene as I don't believe Sammo has ever done drunken boxing in any other movie. Horrible is an understatement, I could barely make it through this, then head to cleanse myself of the experience afterwards by writing a review. Member Cognoscente Posted May 8, 2021 Member Share Posted May 8, 2021 Revenge of Drunken Master. Ironically, it was recommended to me by someone who isn't a Kung Fu movie fan per se. She thought it would be funny to watch a drunken boxing movie while drunk. She was searching for Drunken Master on YouTube but thought that a movie with "Revenge" in the title would be better. She thought the movie was funnier than Kung Pao: Enter the Fist.
Member Cognoscente Posted June 11, 2021 Member Share Posted June 11, 2021 This 90s TV show looks promising. A shame there's no Moon Lee, though. https://www.spcnet.tv/TVB-Series/Drunken-Angels-review-r2156.html#.YMOlxKhKhhF

Member laagi Posted June 16, 2021 Member Share Posted June 16, 2021 For me it's a pretty obvious choice Drunken Master. One of the first Kung Fu and Jackie Chan movies I ever watched. So it holds a special place in my Kung Fu Fandom heart.
