Either I have a very bad memory or the translation I am familiar with differs rather dramatically from this one. But this part of your post reminds me of a part in Kid with Golden Arm. Philip Kwok rumbling on about friends with his wine. Check out both!! Hell both are worth watching!! Speaking of drunken rambling, I've always enjoyed this speech: "We have grown in the troubled world When we join in the troubled world, we grow older and older People love to seize power But I prefer drinking" Translation is a bit dodgy, but anyone recognise it?
