Guest kungfusamurai
I was hoping there would be an FAQ regarding what's happening with the Shaw Brothers DVDs once the Celestial distribution rights run out at the end of this year. I haven't been keeping up with all of the threads. From my understanding, it's Celestial that is in charge of preparing the prints and DVDs, but the manufacturing and distribution is handled by IVL. 1. Will IVL continue to sell DVDs beyond 2007 or are they discontinuing them within the first few months of 2008, and are their distribution rights running out soon too? 2. Has another company picked up the rights (remastering or DVD production)? 3. If they do get the rights, will they be using the masters that celestials used, or will they have to make their own positives using their own facilities. 4. If Celestial does lose the rights, then who's handing the source prints to the US dealers in 2008 onward? 5. Is there a chance that the US releases will NOT happen if Shaw brothers doesn't sell the mastering or distribution rights to another company? Thanks.
