Guest SuperChargerBoy~
http://www.myspace.com/grindhouse Hey alll. Here's a link to the site ^^^ I went for the first time on Tuesday and was blown away at how fun this was. Anyone who is even half a fan of exploitation movies needs to check this out. It's every other Tuesday at the New Beverly Cinemas in Hollywood. It is almost always a double feature and classic exploitation trailors. The venue itself is awesome. The new Bev theatre is anything but new. It is an old theatre that has purposely been left unchanged that brings u right back to the good old days of movie theares. The only gripe I had was that they make u stand outside in line like you were waiting for a concert before they open the ticket window. And since the ticket window is like an old school ticket booth the line takes forever to get in. Also the concession line is just 1 guy behind a counter so that too will take forever should u opt for popcorn. They do not start the movie until the concession and entrance lines are empty so that is a bit annoying. They then have a raffle in which they give out wierd prizes. (Used 80's porn?? a can of Olde English malt liquor???) and then the guys who put it on usually talk about the film for a little bit. After all this though the trailers begin followed by the first movie. the experience is awesome. The crowd was great and laughs at the ridiculous parts and cheers for the good guys. It really captures what used to be great about going to the movies from way back when. I only stayed for the first feature (i had my pregnant wife at home alone) but it was 'Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires' a kung fu vampire flick. The movie was awesome and had some great fight scenes and some pretty unintentional funny moments. For anyone looking to truly experience a 'Grindhouse' experience check this thing out if you're in or around the southern California area u wont be dissappointed!
