Guest SuperChargerBoy~
Hey all. Let me say as my 1st post here i am stoked about this forum. I have been a fan of kung fu films since i can remember being old enough to watch TV and have enjoyed them my whole life. It's great to see so many fans here. Do any of u guys know what happened to Ocean Shores video?? I remember renting a lot of kung fu flicks from that company. They had all of the greats. I also have relatives in Hawaii and whenever i'd go out to visit them the movie selection of classic Ocean Shores kung fu flicks was insane. I remember stocking up on Kung Fu flicks when going to visit family out there. Unfortunately my mother accidentally threw out my tapes when her and my father moved so currently i'm rebuilding my collection with DVD's. But i would love to get my hands on some old Ocean Shores vhs tapes just for sentimental value. I have searched Ebay and cannot find anything. Does anyone know what happened to Ocean Shores videos??? And where if anyplace u can still find them???

Guest teako170
There's a few people on here (or at least at the old KFF) that had a sizable amount of these OS tapes. Several of us who met w/ Rick Meyers at the Lo Mang Expo heard him talk of his days working at OS. I believe their catalog of films is now with Tai Seng(?). Here's a site that sells their old tapes. Never used them before so can't comment on their service: http://picpal.com/marts/oceanshorescart.html Speaking of Tai Seng, anyone ever order this catalog? http://www.taiseng.com/detail.cfm?varItemId=0000&varGenre=&varLanguage=&blnDVD=1&blnVHS=1&varSort=Alpha&varAlpha=0&lstSearchTitle=catalogue&blnSearchDesc=0 [EDIT] I just searched eBay and found this: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=ocean+shores+video&category0=

Guest Shaolindogma
They are certainly collectors items now. 20 bucks for a vhs tape! I love my OC tapes though, and yes i would probably pay 20 bucks for each tape. I didn't know Zatoichi was an OC title? Do you know which episodes? Member 5 Element Boxer Posted November 16, 2007 Member Share Posted November 16, 2007 I still have my Ninja Hunter VHS tape. I freaking love that movie. Jack Long was a great baddie! Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Ninja Checkmate (aka Mystery of Chess Boxing) released by Ocean Shores as well?

Ninja Checkmate was released by them, then Tai Seng bought the rights to release the DVD.
Member The Dragon Posted November 17, 2007 Member Share Posted November 17, 2007 One By One is a favorite of mine with Kam Kang and Kurata. It's seemingly based on the the old Tony Curtis Sidney Poitier film, the Valiant ones, a prison escape caper. Btw, anyone know if OBO goes by another title, and if it's available on DVD? Guest moviegyrl
Yes! I recall a 1980s TV series that featured movies distributed by that company. The "Ocean Shores" stamp and copyright date always appeared at the start of the films they ran. Funny you should mention this because I know of a videostore that has been trying to unload all of their VHS tapes, including Ocean Shores, for years (since they switched exclusively to DVD). :D Haven't been there to visit in quite a few months. (I've seen just about everything they have in stock, and they aren't good about ordering new stuff.) The place is: King Video in Detroit, Michigan, USA, phone: 313-834-1849. Guest kungfood
Yeah, I remember those. In fact, the first videotape I ever bought was Death Duel of Kung Fu in 1983, one of the first releases by Ocean Shores. I only bought one other, Hit Man in the Hand of Buddha, the same year, because back then the price was too high ($39.99 apiece). Still have them, but also got the Tai Seng DVD versions a few years ago. As mentioned, Tai Seng released a ton of OS's movies in their Kung Fu Theater or whatever collection. Crash Cinema released The Master Strikes which was originally released by OS.

And where if anyplace u can still find them??? Tai Seng released quite a few of the Ocean Shores films on VHS and DVD under their "Martial Arts Theater" line. Those are still available on DVD on-line and in Chinatown shops. I saw a bunch this past Monday in a shop in NYC's Chinatown. I even bought one I'd never seen before: Alexander Lou in NINJA IN THE U.S.A. They're the exact same editions that Ocean Shores sold. I've been told elsewhere on the web that Tai Seng never actually secured the rights to release these. Does anyone here know the story behind this? I have quite a few original Ocean Shores VHS editions and even more of the Tai Seng VHS and DVD releases. Counting off from the list provided above by TheManInWhite, I count 47 total in my collection. One of the first I remember getting was SHANGHAI 13. The last, as stated, was NINJA IN THE U.S.A. I would recommend to SuperChargerBoy that you simply look over the list provided by TheManInWhite and pick the titles you want and order them on-line. Member GwaiLoMoFo Posted January 11, 2009 Member Share Posted January 11, 2009 I had a sizable Ocean Shores collection about 8 years ago. But I have sold/traded all of them over the last few years. I had the good fortune of catching alot of old video stores going outta buisness and bought a ton of them for dirt cheap. Most them in immaculate contdition.
