never seen this before, is it good? Looks rather campy in spots and the special effects/editing looks fun.

This movie has to be the most fun you could ever have the joy of seeing. It`s campy but not in a bad way, and the special effects are really cool, you wouldn`t think it was made in 1966. It`s a Gem and the kind of film you can share and everyone will love it and if they don`t they need their heads tested :D

This movie was playing on a double bill with something like Hunter in the Dark at the (now long-gone) Kokusai Theater in San Francisco in the 1970s. My friends and I were enjoying it, but someone (who obviously preferred his samurai films to be serious) went stomping loudly out of the theater partway into Watari. I was so happy to finally get a copy of Watari on DVD earlier this year.

it's very enjoyable. i'm quite happy with the DVD i have it (with good subs, too) and even the faux Watari movies they comped from the "Red Shadow" tv series.
