How well are Celestials sales in china? I know in the states they probably just sell a few thousand but what about

''home turf'' ''where it all began'' anyone know? Im also curious to know why there are not that many Chinese people

who visit this forum. Hey mr. Pollard can you see if you can get a Chinese/English option on the forum eventually?

I think it would help your site too.

Hey whats up with these lame smilies? My little sister visit a site for my little pony and the smilies on that forum

are way better than these. This blows my mind.

C'mon Daigoro. You know that was *you* visiting those My Little Pony sites.

;) Just fudging with ya...

Actually, that's a rather interesting concept. It would certainly bring a whole new fold of folks to KFF and hopefully some would be able to converse in both languages. Even maybe bring some HK industry members to the forum. Good suggestion.

When i was in Hong Kong, they had every shaw brothers celestail for about 88 hong kong dollars, which is about 6 pounds i think, sorry i'm not sure what that is in us dollars. They looked as if they were popular always people picking them up. The vcds as well are popular, you can buy them for 35 hk dollars, also i got Broken Oath for 20 dollars which is like 3 pounds!

I am a Chinese American who visits this forum. Also, my user name on the Kung Fu Fandom/DVD Cult forum was "W Hong". I decided to change it to wackiechan ever since Kung Fu Fandom was taken over by this website.

I would guess most of the people in China are older buying these movies, computers in China are still a luxury item(otherwise not everyone is walking around with personal laptops), as internet cafes are still very prominent. Shaws seem to be lost on the younger generation, I remember someone on here saying Celestials didn't sell on the market as well as they would of liked.

I wish I had gone to where you went, Will91XingYu, as I found almost NONE for sale over there when I visited in Jan of '06.

Even in the specialist DVD stores - NOTHING.

fFnally, I found the same 3 films (on VCD only): Friends, All men are Bros and HK Playboys.

Really odd!!

Hi Karlos, i found the best place to get them was temple street market. It'd by nathan road in kowloon. The shops owned by this lady, and she has them but they are vcds, which are fine for me, the shaws are priced at 35 dollars. The other ones are 25, they even had a un subbed 2 Fists Against the Law with Alan Hsu and Hwang Jang Lee. These are the titles i got from there...

Shaolin Daredevils

Kid with the Golden Arm

Shaolin Mantis

Legendary Weapons of China

Broken Oath.

They have every shaw celestail that are out. Although i didn't see 3 Masters with Yuen Tak which was a shame. The hmv in kowloon station and theres one by kowloon park are awesome as well, but theyre a bit more expensive at 88. Hope this helped!

Actually I would recommend checking the shops in the NYC. They often have some older Shaws for cheap DVDs and VCD. Not super cheap, but pretty good since you don't pay shipping or have to wait.

I can't say the same about shaw DVDs and VCDs in Hong Kong. When I went there in August 2006, I could find them in every DVD store. In Mongkok there was a shop full of shaws almost in every corner. I even could find some old titles as Killer Snakes, 3 evil masters, the Criminals or the One Armed Swordsmans triology. What is more, in big stores like HMV (especially the one in Tsim Tsa Tsui) they had several shelves with only shaw movies.

I think they would've been alot more popular in Hong Kong if Celestial had bothered releasing more of them with their Cantonese soundtracks.
