Guest Ching li
well my all time favorites are: Duel of the iron fists Duel of fists Anonymous heroes The deadly duo
Guest peringaten
If any were likely to get recommended or multiple viewings from me it would be Shaolin Temple and 5 Shaolin Masters... although the casting on those two is a little less DC/TL-centric than those that came before... Also, I got a real soft spot for The Heroic Ones... Hell, they're all good, but if we're talking absolute favourites... yeah, those 3... the first two especially. Guest teako170
OK, peringaten picked two great films but not sure if they qualify as "IT" flicks. Sorry p. If I'm wrong, I will give up one of my time-outs. 8) Maybe we need a definitive list. My favorite IT film is Boxer from Shantung with Blood Brothers a close second (which I'm not even sure is actually an IT film.) OK, we need a list.... Guest peringaten
Aha... well, Chang Cheh + David Chiang + Ti Lung = Iron Triangle... so those 2 fit the criteria imo, even if their Shaolin Cycle moniker calls into question their validity towards such shapely title... Now if Boxer From Shantung featured Ti Lung in any capacity... To the bench with you, sir. Although I do prefer Boxer to most IT flicks...
Guest pressureworld
thanks is 7 man army any good I rarely here anyone mention this
Member KyFi Posted April 16, 2007 Member Share Posted April 16, 2007 Vengeance Blood Brothers Anonymous Heroes ...would be three of my favorites. But I have to say I go back to The Deadly Duo quite often, because it's very short (77min.) and crammed full of fight scenes! Whenever I'm short of time and need to see David Chiang take out about 150 villains, get shot with 45 arrows in slo-mo, and heroically die while still standing up, this one goes in the the DVD player :lol :
Guest peringaten
I thought 7 Man was ok. It didn't overly thrill me and I'd put it pretty low down on my lists, but it's decent and has a real nice cast. Some people go nuts for it (thinking Gfanikf mainly)... I guess that's the nature of these IT flicks, they're all pretty nice, so all seem to attract differing admirers and detractors... Hard to tell really... For example I wasn't really feeling New One Armed so much (don't get me wrong, still great, but not right up there on the scale for me), others love it and vice versa the way I like Heroic Ones, I've seen others not digging it so much... They kind of seem to polarise opinion, whilst all being more than worthwhile... If you like war flicks and a good ensemble cast - lots of extras running about and a flag-waving strongly patriotic themed storyline concerning a handful of heroic young men against the masses, plus servicable choreo with a few nicely scoped battle scenes (LOTS of tanks), you'll probably like 7 Man. So far as CC war flicks go I liked it better than Anonymous Heroes.
Guest pressureworld
thanks to all, what I love most about Chang Cheh flicks is watching the hero face death in the face and go down fighting
Guest Tosh
You got that right, sometimes I think I live for these films:hat my favs - Blood Brothers Heroic Ones The Duel And I'd go with The New One Armed Swordsman
Guest teako170
Aha... well, Chang Cheh + David Chiang + Ti Lung = Iron Triangle... Oh my. I appear to have gotten my Irons mixed up. I was thinking of the Iron Trilogy flix. OK, best CC+DC+TL would be "The Generation Gap" (not!) Man, this has to be of the worst fluff pieces of that period. I liked some of the others (Friends, Young Ppl, etc) but GG was pretty beat. Picked up when Kong Do entered the film but wayyyy too many Agnes songs. Member Secret Executioner Posted January 13, 2016 Member Share Posted January 13, 2016 How about a Top 5: New one-armed Swordsman (great performance by Chiang, Ti Lung has a smaller but still very interesting part) The Pirate (Ti Lung is great as the pirate captain and David Chiang's government official is a nice character - plus, David Chiang opens a can of whoop to get out of a casino) The heroic Ones (David Chiang portrays a very charismatic guy, Ti Lung's part is more secondary but still a nice character) The Water Margin (though Ti Lung doesn't do much and David Chiang is given focus later on) The Blood Brothers (I didn't find it that great overall, but the performances are very solid)

Good point, I think this was a transition film Wang Yu leaving and Ti & David coming in. They did have cameos. Hmmm List edit: Added ??? next to Return... title. Member paimeifist Posted January 13, 2016 Member Share Posted January 13, 2016 The Duel Shaolin Temple Four Riders Blood Brothers Vengeance!! With that said, I prefer the other Shaolin cycle movies and the venoms films to this part of Chang Chehs career. Still love em all though.
Member Lady Jin Szu-Yi Posted January 14, 2016 Member Share Posted January 14, 2016 I left off Naval Commandos (1977). According to the HKMDB that film boasted four directors including Chang Cheh.
