Guest peringaten
But they're pretty much the same characters!... Only the ones in Oath Of Death are better. :hat
Guest ironfistedmonk2003
Frankie Wei's character is the dumbest character in the history of MA cinema, Chen Kuan Tai's naivety was a billion times better realised than Frankie's. And Ti Lung and DC own the screen big time in Blood Brothers, Oath doesn't even compare. Blood Brothers smacks Oath of Death upside the head for getting above itself, better characters my arse! Thats just my opinion tho
Guest tino
I like Blood Brothers better but I did enjoy Oath of Death. Both are great films. I wish Blood Brothers (and the other first releases) would come out anamorphic. I zoom it on my tv to make it look kinda anamorphic but it hurts the picture quality. Guest vengeanceofhumanlanterns
What a ridiculous comparison. Blood Brothers is a bitch to no film.
Guest monk sante
What a ridiculous comparison. Blood Brothers is a bitch to no film. I agree 110%, Blood Brothers is a true Shaw classic!:hat
Guest peringaten
What a ridiculous comparison. Blood Brothers is a bitch to no film. Agreed as well. If you folks can't tell I'm just bored and pissing about... Anyhoo, except to Oath Of Death! I didn't see no hands getting punched through bodies in Blood Brothers!! Oath Of Death for the win!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest morgoth
I need to check out Oath of Death. It sounds even better than Blood Brothers:p
Guest teako170
Okay peringaten, this was on my list to watch and I hate to waste an evening but I'll pop her in and see what all the commotion is about. But hey, Blood Brothers is a great flick, so I hope this OOD is not DOA or you just might go MIA. :lol
Guest peringaten
But hey, Blood Brothers is a great flick, so I hope this OOD is not DOA or you just might go MIA.Yeah, do it!! Oath is great! One of my favourite early '70s Shaws for sure! Ignoring the likes of my double negatives above, don't listen to IFM, stuff like this...Frankie Wei's character is the dumbest character in the history of MA cinema, Chen Kuan Tai's naivety was a billion times better realised than Frankie's....doesn't even make sense! He's just got Frankie issues, if he digs deep enough he'll recognise the genius that is Oath Of Death!! What a finale - chat about solid OTT... Man, Oath is nice. More fun than Blood Brothers!! :hat The production values may not be quite so grandiose, but there's good harsh stabbings and slicings, less people rolling down hills. Oath Of Death!!!!!!! Guest Chinatown Kid
I've seen both and think Blood Brothers is the better film. If you prefer Oath of Death P then that's your perogative though man, go ahead with your bad self!
Guest ironfistedmonk2003
:lol Peri man, you know what I mean when I say Frankie Wei was a dumbass, a blind man could have seen that girl was trouble and it wasn't played out anywhere near as well as in Blood Brothers. I do like Oath of Death its a decent film but Blood Brothers is just too well made in all departments to even be compared to.
Member The Dragon Posted August 22, 2008 Member Share Posted August 22, 2008 Peri has convinced another... I'll add OOD to my next order asap.

Administrator KUNG FU BOB Posted August 22, 2008 Administrator Share Posted August 22, 2008 This thread's title is one of the funniest I've seen yet. I think I might have this. If I do, I'll check it out.
Member teako170 Posted August 22, 2008 Member Share Posted August 22, 2008 lol this thread was funny, where's Peri gone anyway? P is still in the house - though a few cats from the old KFF still haven't joined in the fun here. Gotta get as many of them ol' timers back around here that we can. Every once in a while we need to toss a lil' Geritol (...or Viagra) out on the KFF porch. Back to the thread.... I did watch OOD, once. It was OK though I still prefer BB. (Sorry P.) Member SamuraiDana Posted August 23, 2008 Member Share Posted August 23, 2008 OATH OF DEATH is an enjoyable throwaway Shaw Bros. adventure like a million other films they've done, which is fine--I have fun with them all--but it's no classic. BLOOD BROTHERS is a classic, for all kinds of reasons that have to do with the quality of script, direction, acting, production design, etc. Just compare the performances of the lead actresses in both films (Ling Ling in OATH OF DEATH vs. Ching Li in BLOOD BROTHERS) to understand the difference between a melodrama and a work of art. Member peringaten Posted August 23, 2008 Member Share Posted August 23, 2008 Oath Of Death's a classic. Ling Ling's waaaayy more rock'n'roll than Ching Li. You lot are all mental. Speaking of folk who ain't been seen since the change over, see him above, Tino was a good poster, dude knew his Shaws.
Member venoms5 Posted August 23, 2008 Member Share Posted August 23, 2008 OATH OF DEATH, while essentially the same story as BLOOD BROTHERS isn't as well made nor the better film but it is definitely more fun and wildly gruesome in the tradition that Chang Cheh was known for despite it being helmed by a different director. The ending is one of the absolute craziest, goriest and simultaneously hilarious finishes I have ever seen. Those that enjoy the more violent side of Shaw Brothers films will most likely enjoy OATH far more than the more professionally made and solid BLOOD BROTHERS, a film I don't really consider a kung fu picture in the first place.
Member teako170 Posted August 23, 2008 Member Share Posted August 23, 2008 Gotta luv the brothers.... ..props to Carol A side note: These photos come to you in spite of atrocious adversity. As I was uploading them, I reached for my ice cold St. Pauli Girl which decided to do a 360* twist in my hand (no, I'm not a juggler) spraying brew all over my carpet, wall, and the lower shelf of my bookshelf which consists of about 50/60 KF films - plus such books as the HK Filmography, Bruce to the Ninja, Ency of MA Movies, Shaw Screen, and the Photo-Journal Guide to Marvel Comics plus more... As though one soul cried out with the anguish of a million kung fu collectors, and then was gone. NICE. I think The Blood Brothers / Chinese Vengeance, is my favorite Shaw film. Ti Lung's role was perfect for him. "I am climbing higher, anything in my way shall be ..." Cool stuff.
