Guest killer meteor
Let's hope so. Anamorphic transfers and optional English dubs at a reasonble price would be great - plus we'd gain from genuine PAL picture, rather than the PAL-NTSC conversions. Hooray! Guest Markgway
I really hope Momentum reissue anamorphic versions of the first batch they put out (ie. Spiritual Boxer and Heroes Two). I would buy them if they get it right (ie. original mono).
Guest killer meteor
Yeah, a boxset of the first two batches, corrected of course, and everything else after that would be fine.
Guest Markgway
Killer Clans on UKTV dubbed and letterboxed btw.
Guest killer meteor
Old school dub? I asked my mum who has sky to tape this becuase I'm trapped at uni but usually she forgets. Typical - I say I have no use for Sky and then an entire season of Shaws comes on!
Guest sevenhooks
Killer Clans on UKTV dubbed and letterboxed btw. Jesus. The possiblilties are starting to freak me out. Not to give anyone any ideas (not like they need em), but I would hope some smart labels get on the ball and start releasing some of these titles w/the dubs before the bootleggers get to em. Hate to say it, but how long do you think it will be before an english dubbed Spiritual Boxer shows up on eBay? Momentum (and Siren?) had the chance. Guest chen lung
Killer Clans on UKTV dubbed and letterboxed btw. For the first few batches, did Celestial avoid anamorphic?
Guest killer meteor
Yes they did, but genuine anamorphic versions of some of the earlier films were made for the French DVDs. Sadly, the Aussies made do with the old non-anamorphic masters and Momentum didn't even get Spiritual Boxer anamorphic, when the master used for HK is
Guest chen lung
when the master used for HK is Sure that wasn't the usual PAL>NTSC conversion?
Guest killer meteor
The masters are anamorphic before coversion - that's why Siren got some films anamorphic. The first few anamorphic batches from IVL were non-anamorphic masters crudly blown up

Guest kermit
I know for a fact a (legitimate) company will start releasing Shaw Brothers films with English dubs soon.
Guest killer meteor
In the UK?
Guest gfanikf
tigerstyles can you post a small youtube clip of the film and dubbing (like 2 or 3 minutes).
Guest Ninja Sinai
Well what can I say.. The Celestial version of Killer Clans with the classic English dubbed voices that we all love.. presented in lovely remastered mono glory. You know people.. so many DVD companies have had a chance in releasing the Shaw Classics on DVD and have always let down the fans in one way or another.. the irony is that it took a tv channel that doesn’t even specialise in the kung fu genre to show the movies that we love, in the way that we love them. I say Momentum Asia and Image need a good slap or Thunderkick strike to their heads!!
Member Linn1 Posted March 12, 2007 Member Share Posted March 12, 2007 Celestial has told them for years they don't have but a handful of the dubs, I don't think you can fault the companies too much. They can only deal with what they're told. But I think that companies in the future will be less likely to simply take them at face value. At least I hope so. Edit-Also, I wouldn't doubt these may be newly found. They don't know what they hell the have in all honesty.
Guest killer meteor
If a dub exists say, on a version taped off the telly in the early 80's, would Celestial permit its use on a legit DVD?
Member Linn1 Posted March 12, 2007 Member Share Posted March 12, 2007 If a dub exists say, on a version taped off the telly in the early 80's, would Celestial permit its use on a legit DVD? If Celestial didn't have it, and the company made a deal for the English dubs as well, then yes.
